Spotlight: The Future of DAO Tooling
Earlier this week, our marketing lead Henri published an interesting read on the problems DAOs are facing, and how to overcome them using DAO tooling. Only fitting after our community initiative to form the DANK DAO, which you can read more about in detail in the next segment.
If you’ve ever been part of a DAO or thought about making one yourself, this article is for you! It’s a comprehensive dive into the DAO landscape, the “free-rider” issue many DAOs face while growing rapidly, and some viable solutions in DAO structuring to avoid these obstacles.
There are several DAO tools being built right now, taking innovative approaches to DAO management. For MemeFactory’s DANK DAO, we decided to experiment with gamified ‘challenges’, using DAOnative.
Ben, the co-founder of DAOnative, was kind enough to give us their view on the issues DAO builders face nowadays and their outlook on the future of DAO tooling overall:
“There is no clear consensus about what DAOs actually are, we’re building tools for something that we don’t fully understand yet. DAOs are evolving together with the tooling, meaning that the tooling we build will influence the forms and possibilities of DAOs. It’s hard to find the right balance of providing templates without being limiting.”
The cherries on top are a couple of insightful takes from Kevin Owocki, the founder of Gitcoin. During his Schelling Point talk, he explained his vision of what he refers to as “ImpactDAOs”, DAOs that will have the most profound impact on our lives.

DANK DAO x DAOnative
Continuing on the DAO talk, we recently announced the launch of the DANK DAO — a community-led secret society composed of the finest of meme connoisseurs. However, this secret society keeps an open doors policy, for any homeless meme maestros looking for a place to call home. If that’s you, we welcome you at ours, the couch is comfy and the memes are dank, join us.
If you read the above-mentioned Spotlight, you now understand the importance of proper DAO structuring and DAO tooling.
DAOnative is our tool of choice, as it provides an easy dashboard for creating and issuing challenges, keeping track, and rewarding DAO members for completing them. It’s also a totally gas-free experience!
The team behind DAOnative has been very transparent and open about current developments of the project and was kind enough to onboard us to the platform as soon as possible. Now it’s up to the community to make use of the tools and make Meme Factory great again!
Using DAOnative, community members can propose new challenges and obtain rewards for those challenges. Completing challenges gives “exp points” to users, which in turn lead to community rewards. For any MMORPG lovers out there, this will probably hit close to home.
The DANK DAO can now move forward in the path to conquer the meme realms utilizing this sleek new tool at our disposal. We welcome all community members to consider joining the DANK DAO, contributing their time and skills to the community, and getting rewarded accordingly for their contributions!

Last month we had the pleasure of attending one of the biggest European Web3 conferences — DevConnect and the ETHAmsterdam hackathon!
While lots of networking happened in the center point of the week-long gathering, DevConnect’s Coworking space, our favorite events were definitely the Schelling Point talks.
The two most-watched talks were the previously mentioned masterful talk on Impact DAOs by Kevin Owocki and “Teaching ReFi Insights” by Stephen Reid.

Beautiful exhibitions hosted by Art and the Blockchain also stood out with their vivid, colorful masterpieces.

Second Meme Contest on Meme Factory!
Out with the old memes, in with the new ones!
Just like with fashion, we need to keep up with the latest meme trends, right? We received some creative submissions that brought laughter to the community, both on and off stream. But as much fun as we had with the first official Meme Factory contest (themed LGBT Putin), we think it’s time to say “Sayonara Putin”.
From the fabulous Putin’s Bizzare Adventure by RektMeRev to the memorable Vladimira Monroe, we congratulate each and every one of the community members who took the time to create some memetic art. We will continue to make sure that your efforts aren’t in vain!
To the other few individuals that spammed the Dank Registry with unworthy submissions: thank you for returning some $DANK to the community and proving that Meme Factory’s Registry works as intended! Hope you enjoy the STANK corner! 😉
What’s the next contest theme and when does it start?
A proper announcement article will be released soon, but we figured a slight tease for the ones that make it here would be appreciated. If that’s you, take a look at the Dank Registry. If you have the green thumb for it, you’ll understand exactly what the theme is and have a head start in submitting your meme masterpieces. Happy crafting maestros! ✌️
Special DappStream featuring Artemis Academy
Last week on the DappStream, Brady had the pleasure of interviewing Brandon and 0xGlue of Artemis.
Artemis is launching the Artemis Academy, the next-generation education platform for DeFi builders.
Artemis aims to fix one of the currently biggest problems in DeFi — proper structured web3 education and onboarding for new folks dipping their toes into the industry. While the knowledge is out there, there isn’t a properly-defined program to follow, which makes newcomers think twice before stepping foot into this fast-growing field.
Brandon, 0xGlue, and Brady discussed the future of web3 education, what it lacks, what the solutions are, and how Artemis fits into this picture.

Dev Updates
We’re continuing to expand our manpower and are pleased to welcome a new developer to the team.
Our newest hire will mostly be focused on shipping the long-awaited relaunch of Name Bazaar!
As you may recall, we plan on integrating Wyvern Protocol with Name Bazaar, in order to offer users gasless ENS name listing. We believe this UX upgrade will help boost our competitiveness in the wider marketplace landscape.
As soon as the integration is completed, we anticipate the Name Bazaar relaunch to follow right after some final battle testing and last fixes!
Once the Name Bazaar relaunch is finalized, other halted districts will follow its lead… stay tuned for updates on our official Twitter account.
