Former President Obama said in a new interview that what most worries him is that Americans are occupying “different realities.”
“The thing that I’m most worried about is the degree to which we now have a divided conversation, in part because we have a divided media, a splintered media,” Obama told “CBS Mornings” host Nate Burleson.
“Today what I’m most concerned about is the fact that, because of the splintering of the media we almost occupy different realities, right? If something happens that, you know, in the past everybody could say, ‘All right, we may disagree on how to solve it, but at least we all agree that, yeah, that’s an issue,’” he said.
“Now people will say, ‘Well, that didn’t happen,’ or, ‘I don’t believe that,’ or, ‘I don’t care about the science,’ or, ‘I’m not concerned about these experts, you know, ’cause they’re just all liberals’ or, you know, ‘That’s just conservative propaganda,’” he continued.

The one question Obama doesn’t ask is why the conversation fractured. If Obama wants to understand who caused the problem, perhaps he should try looking in the mirror.
The answer to why is obvious – noble cause corruption. Mainstream media abandoned their original mission of objectively reporting the news, and embraced an alternative mission of trying to re-shape society.
Consider the furore over Trump’s CNN town hall. After Trump’s outstanding CNN performance, critics erupted in anger that CNN had given President Trump a platform.
But millions of people want to hear what Trump has to say.
Why do many mainstream media figures believe CNN should have denied President Trump a platform, when so many of their potential audience wanted to see Trump speak? Were mainstream media objections based on their mission to uphold objective, unbiased reporting? Or were they angry that CNN had deviated from a liberal mission to re-shape society, by silencing voices which dispute the liberal narrative?
When Obama talks about healing the fracture, does he mean giving airtime to other points of view? Or is his idea of healing the fractured national voice an intention to silence those voices he doesn’t like?
Too many people in politics and mainstream media seem to believe it is their mission to protect the public from dangerous ideas and “misinformation”, to be the arbiters of truth, to decide which voices people should hear.
Did people like Obama really expect others would just sit still and take the abuse?
Whether it’s suppressing climate skeptics, refusing to debate skeptics, or deplatforming politicians like Trump, mainstream media and the establishment’s intolerable attempts to shape the conversation through heavy handed censorship are in my opinion the cause of the fracture.

Hillary Clinton, along with the Democrat National Committee financed the creation of a false narrative linking Donald Trump to the Russians, where the Russians were supposedly helping Trump in the election of 2016.
Obama and Biden were briefed by the CIA and told that Hillary Clinton was planning this false hit piece on Donald Trump long before any of this became public.
All of Obama-Biden national security advisors including the FBI and the CIA knew from the very beginning that this Hillary Clinton smear job was a false narrative that had no basis in fact.
Depite all that, Obama and Biden kept silent while Trump was put through the meatgrinder over this false story, and the members of the Obama-Biden national security team actively promoted this false story, in an effort to undermine the Democrats principal political opponent.
Both the Hillary Clinton/DNC machine and the Obama-Biden national security team pushed this false Russian collusion narrative to the friendly leftwing media who proceeded to spread it far and wide.
The Obama-Biden administration committed treason against their nation by weaponizing the federal government under their control and using the tremedous power of the federal government to attack political opponents.
This is Treason, plain and simple. They sought to bypass the U.S. Constitution and create a false narrative that they hoped would ultimately result in the Democrats gaining political power, and keeping it.
And I’m not going to believe that Obama and Biden were not behind this criminal activity. All these federal agencies are not going out on their own to do this attack on the U.S. Constitution. Their leaders told them what to do.
So I want the news media (Fox, no hope for the others) to start injecting Obama and Biden, and Clinton’s names into this mix. They are the perpetrators of this attack on American soverienty and should be indentified as such. And they are not done yet trying to undermine the constitution. They are still in postions where they can do this country enormous damage. This is an ongoing problem.
Every one of these scoundrels should go to jail for trying to overthrow a duly elected government.

I wonder how much time Obama actually spends reading alternative sources and alternative interpretations to the legacy media. They have been increasingly short of honest facts and increasingly full of pre-digested opinions for many years now.

The fact Obama says that is a clear indication that he believes political operations can define a reality useful to political interests. Obama is old enough to remember the old Big Three Networks, which were heavily regulated by the FCC. There was very little dissent, and before the Fairness Doctrine was eliminated, no real broadcast alternatives.
Despite Google, Facebook, and Twitter (pre Musk) sucking up to the Democrats, by and large, it is rather less overt than the pre Fairness Doctrine repeal. Which does not deny that Facebook and Google suck up to the Democrats, and blatantly censor information, which has gotten worse.

I think it’s fair to say that I haven’t always disagreed instantly with everything Obama has to say. But he’s arrogant even for a Washington politician. Arrogance and a social mission are a bad combination, they can lead to people being trampled (ref CS Lewis).
The trick is to listen carefully. The phrases that you don’t immediately disagree with will be the part he throws out to make himself look fair-minded. But in the end he’ll let you know that you’re a fool or maybe a racist if you cling bitterly to those illusions.

So it election night. My wife and I are sitting someplace in our motor home. We did have local TV coverage but not fox news since we retired. There were times when I would say, don’t make me turn off Fox News. It not that I disagreed but getting upset is not healthy. We both had an intense dislike for the Clintons.
Since the NYT had already crowned Hilary queen, I was not allowed to watch the election results. So I went to the back and turned on the TV. My MH only has two TVs.
To my surprise, CBS news was fighting back the tears. Did one of them get news that one of their children had been killed?

Yes. There was the ongoing debate about where Obama was born. I won’t go into that here….but, it seems few ever questioned where and how he was raised. There in lay the problem. A person can be born in the US and spend most of all of their formative years in another country. Being exposed to other cultures can be a beneficial thing, but it can also color a person’s lifetime outlook.
I really do think that the requirements to be a US president should be amended so that anyone who grew up in another country (unless their parents were in the military) should be disqualified. Obama is one instance that proves such a qualification change is needed.

He was captured and went through horrific experiences including being bombed by allied planes while transported through Germany and in a POW camp. I hear Trump is talking to Tucker Carlson about Carlson being a moderator of a debate. Tucker is the kind of moderator Trump needs. He wouldn’t cut Trump off in the middle of his sentence because Trump was making a good point, like the leftwing hacks that usually do this job do to Trump.
When Trump introduced the Hunter Biden laptop into the debate in 2020, and Joe Biden lied to the American people by claiming 51 former intelligence officials had declared the laptop to be Russian disinformation, the leftwing hack moderator allowed Biden to make that claim about 51 intelligence officers, but when Trump tried to reply, the moderator interrupted him and said, “Let’s go to another topic”. Running interference for Biden is what she was doing. And did so effectively in this case. The laptop topic was dropped.

That malicious twerp promised to “transform” America, he DID transform America, and now he’s agitated because media are “splintered” and he wonders why “the conversation is fractured”?
Did he really expect all 330 million people to fall into lockstep behind him?
I think Obama was trying to set up a situation where it doesn’t matter what 330 million people think and they will just do what they are told because they have no other option. Obama weaponized the Executive Branch of government to force, through various means, his political outlook on everyone else.
And this Big Push appears to be continuing with Joe Biden who is following the Obama outline, and turning the authoritarianism up to 11.
It blows my mind that so many on the left simply cannot understand (or refuse to consider) that anyone might not take what they say as gospel. It is an amazing lack of awareness…. Like a chronic liar wondering why no one believes him, or a thief who puzzles at why people lock up their belongings when he is around.
Barri has a habit of saying the quiet part out loud, and leftist media toddle along with it.
Somebody ought to ask Barri why he remained silent while Trump was attacked for being in collusion with Russia, when Barri knew good and well that this was not true, and was a hoax dreamed up by Hillary Clinton.
The only conclusion you can draw is that Barri was fine with Trump and the nation suffering over a false attack by Barri’s Executive Branch.
Imo, when Hillary ginned up this fraud, Obama and Biden were eager to get on board and use the power of the federal government to push this false narrative as a means to destroy their mutual political opposition.
I think Obama and Biden are hip-deep in this attack on the U.S. Constitution.
Of course, there’s no evidence of that yet, but Biden doesn’t seem to be able to hide the evidence of his personal corruption very well, so maybe he didn’t hide his traitorous actions very well, either. Time will tell.
The Republican congress has a lot of investigating to do to right this Ship of State.
The Mueller Report clearly shows that the only people in collusion with Russia were the Obama Admin, Hillary Rodham Clinton and William Jefferson Clinton. The Durham Report further clarifies the levels of criminal actions taken by Democrats to further their insurrection against the people of America.
