PM Albo blatant hypocrisy not supporting PEP11

We all remember the multi media items blaming ScoMo Gov for Eastern States (NEM region) “gas crisis”.
This duckduck link finds articles from 2021 and 2022.

Bounty Oil have this map of PEP11 and seismic that shows what they think is the best drill target is way nearer Hunter than Sydney.

We hear on news that the PEP11 cancellation is being challenged in the courts.
We know world gas prices are at stellar levels.

The AEMO Gas dashboard shows our high gas prices in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane.

How easy it would be for PM Albo or his Resources Minister King to tell a Gov Lawyer to get into this court pronto and say they are joining the case to reinstate PEP11.
Cancel the PM ScoMo secretive, ill considered move to cancel PEP11.
The Feds could also discuss buying into PEP11 with the owners and Joint Venturers.
Actually do something to MAKE A STRONGER WIDE BROWN LAND.
Too easy. Crickets.

  1. Irrespective of any pursuant court decision, this exploration project will never get past Plibersek.

She has already “cancelled” several gas exploration projects thgat had already received environmental approvals on the basis of the need for review (ie. Net Zero comes first).

  2. Still worth Oppsn pushing Albo to reverse what is the only example we know of – of one of these “destructions of our Westminster system of Govt”
    – Albo has been claiming for a week n a half now.

The NSW State Election is heading for a holocaust.

I’ve put this to bed before.

Right now, the only serious supplier to Mt Piper by volume is Springvale Colliery. It’s Resource (and the critical sub-set of Reserve) is limited by exactly the same environmental features as Angus Place. The Resource is exactly the same – the lease boundaries are adjacent (as the map I put up showed).

How long can Springvale keep up supply, I hear the question ? Obviously, this depends on consumption, but on current consumption, less than 10 years.

Can fuel be supplied from elsewhere, like the Mudgee area mines ? Yes, but there is no coal train unloader at Mt Piper (Springvale supplies along a cross-country surface belt). That means that Mudgee fuel or from elsewhere has to be transported by road along the Mudgee highway. Continual 24/7 /365 heavy truck traffic for critical power generation on a secondary country road ? Oh yeah …

And it is my view, which some may consider jaundiced, that the Aus middle class (especially the female half) will never arc up in sufficient numbers to change any of this. They will just accept continual lowering of living standards to “save the planet”.

  4. Thanks ianl8888 for your informed contribution. So NSW electricity consumers have several years yet before Mt Piper coal supply ceases. I agree now is the time this should be solved. But as we know coal has many many haters in high positions. So all we can do is watch and be aware of the parameters around particular issues.
Added Midday 3Sep22 – I have just searched and found my 1st May 2022 blog – April AEMO wholesale electricity price explosion
and if you scroll down through the comments you will find links to various charts of coal prices – AEMO wholesale monthly electricity prices – and maps of National Parks and the more recent “Gardens of Stone” State Park in the Lithgow – Portland district along with coal exploration and mining tenements – including the map emailed me by ianl8888.
So with every month that passes – the technical people in charge of the coal mine supplying Pt Piper electricity generator – will have a more accurate estimate of when their mine will be unable to keep up the desired coal output. It will be interesting to see what “authorities” will do to keep Mt Piper generating.

  5. Just going a bit sideways, has anybody got a grip on why the $A has lost so much since it became obvious Albo was going to win the election?

We have lost around 10c against the $US.

& even though The Saudis have signed up for BRICS & probably hawking Russian oil on the US Markets, that depreciation on top of the gamed price does not seem to be getting much commentary.

It can’t ALL be Albo’s aping of Joe Biden & out-Rudding Kevin 07 – surely.

When the reset finally does happen, will the people of Australia own any of the Gold & Energy resources?
