Chicago Housing Authority CEO Talks Agency Criticism, State of Affordable Housing

The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is facing a lot of criticism this week. Alderpeople are questioning how the department is using its resources, while residents said there isn’t enough housing and what they do have is in poor condition.

CHA is the third-largest public housing authority in the nation and the largest owner of rental housing in Chicago. The Housing Authority serves nearly 133,000 people in more than 63,000 households across the city through resources provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Approximately one in every 22 Chicagoans participates in CHA's housing programs.
