7 Sarasota, Manatee businesses make Yelp’s first-ever Top 100 Florida Restaurants list

The highest-ranked local restaurant came in at No. 21, with Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, North Port and Osprey represented on the list.

One of the world's best-known restaurant review websites recently debuted a list of the top places to eat in Florida, and several Sarasota and Manatee businesses made the cut.

Yelp's first-ever Top 100 Florida Restaurants guide included seven establishments spread across Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, North Port and Osprey. According to the website, the ranking was determined by a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews between Jan. 1, 2017, and April 13, 2022.

Antoine's Restaurant, which is located near Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota and serves Continental cuisine including mussels prepared 10 different ways, was the highest-ranked local establishment, coming in at No. 22. Other Sarasota restaurants included on the list were Italian eateries La Dolce Vita on Stickney Point Road (#84) and Tortellino Bistrot on Superior Avenue (#97.)

South Sarasota County was represented by multiple restaurants on the list as well, including Que Rico Colombian Flavors in North Port (#40), breakfast and lunch spot Max's Table in Osprey (#54) and Tikka Indian Cuisine in Venice (#66.) Château 13 in downtown Bradenton, known for European-inspired cuisine such as mussels and frites as well as The Louis XIII burger with foie gras, gruyère, truffled mushrooms and shallot jam on a toasted brioche bun, came in at No. 41. It was the only Manatee County restaurant to make the list.

The Italian eateries Fratellino in Coral Gables topped Yelp's list of Florida's best restaurants. Additional cities represented in the Top 10 included Orlando, Pensacola, Miami, Naples, Tampa, Pompano Beach and Jacksonville.

Other Sarasota-Manatee restaurants have earned spots on statewide and nationwide lists in recent years. Restaurant reservation and review website OpenTable named the since-closed Cafe Longet in Venice one of the Top 100 Restaurants in America for 2021, also calling Sarasota's The Rosemary & Thyme one of its 100 best neighborhood gems that same year. Yelp also named Sarasota bakery Floribbean Flo's one of the 20 Top Places for Pie in Florida earlier this year.
