Polygon Labs has launched the .polygon web3 domains service. The layer 2 blockchain company has collaborated with NFT domain service provider Unstoppable Domains to allow its users to create .polygon web3 domains.
The domains will allow Polygon users to use a single identity across the more than 750 decentralised applications (dApps), blockchain games, NFT platforms, and metaverses in the Polygon ecosystem.
The company is looking to give its massive user-based of more than 180 million control of their identities and data as they build their identity across 40,000 web services, send and receive crypto to an easily readable address, as well as, create decentralised websites, among other use-cases.
Commenting on the partnership, Sanket Shah, Vice President and Head of Growth at Polygon Labs said: Web3 domains will give our community a digital identity that they fully own, so they can log into dApps without giving away their personal information and transact crypto without lengthy wallet addresses.”
The partnership is part of Polygon’s goal of making “user-owned digital identity a core part” of its ecosystem.
On the other hand, Sandy Carter, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Development at Unstoppable Domains lauded the partnership as a great opportunity to bring the two communities closer together.
“User-owned digital identity is the future of the Internet, and with the Polygon ecosystem, we’re putting the power of user-owned digital identities into more people’s hands,” said Carter.
Unstoppable Domains is issuing a 25% discount, up to $25.00 on all .polygon domains for a period of 48 hours. Starting March 16, the company will launch exclusive access to premium .polygon gaming and digit domains.
For Unstoppable Domains, this announcement also comes hot on the heels of launching its UD Parking solution, which allows users to securely store their web3 domains separate from other digital assets.
Polygon has become one of the fastest-growing dApp blockchains over the past six months after collaborating with leading consumer-facing brands like Reddit and Starbucks for their NFT projects.
