Blue’s Big City Adventure Review

Blue’s Big City Adventure is a fantastic journey in believing in yourself and having fun in the city. The movie gives us the familiarity of the television show but expands that with more songs, dances, and characters. Fans of the show will love spending time with Josh and Blue while they go to audition for Rainbow Puppy. Ok, I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself, let’s rewind a little.

In Blue’s Big City Adventure, Josh wishes to get an audition with Rainbow Puppy for her new Broadway play. Josh talks about he has always wanted to sing on Broadway and that auditioning for Rainbow Puppy will make his dreams come true. Josh received an invite to audition and has to go to New York for it. He has second thoughts because he is afraid that he will forget his lines or will not be able to sing when it is his turn.

Thankfully for Josh, he has friends who believe in him. They let him know that they believe he will be great during the audition and he should go. Josh writes the information for the audition in his notepad and takes off to New York with Blue. Once he arrives in New York and sings a catchy song with the people there, Josh realizes that he left his notepad at home. What do we have to find in order for Josh to remember where the audition is at? If you said “Blue’s Clues” you are correct!

Yes, this movie is an extended episode of Blue’s Clue. Yes, we have to interact with the movie to find out the location of the audition. Yes, you will have a great time trying to find the clues and help Josh get to the audition. Not only will you help Josh but you will also get to interact with Steve and Joe as they try to help Josh in the big city. I will admit seeing Steve on the big screen made me feel like a kid again and him working with Joe was just icing on the cake.

In order to save the day Mr. Salt finds the notepad and decided to fly it to New York to give it to Josh. In an attempt to find Josh, Mr. Salt finds Joe and Steve and they unite to find Josh and give him his notepad. It’s great to see both of the characters on the big screen working together to find Josh.

While all of this is happening, we cut to Rainbow Puppy holding her auditions. There are song great cameos during these auditions and it is shocking that some of them do not get the role for the show. (I know it’s not a real audition, but Rainbow Puppy is crazy to say ‘Next!’ to Phillipa Soo!)

Among the great auditions, there are some great musical numbers throughout the movie. From dancing in Times Square to dancing and singing in Central Park, Blue’s Big City Adventure will have you tapping your toes when you watch this. All of the songs are catchy and will stick with you after the movie is done.

We don’t want to give away the last third of the movie but the conclusion is very satisfying and everyone will enjoy watching Blue’s Big City Adventure.
