Lawmaker from Illinois says too many worship guns

WASHINGTON, DC (WICS/CNN NEWSOURCE) — United States Representative Adam Kinzinger, R-Illinois, is calling for stricter gun regulations following the tragic Uvalde school shooting.

Rep. Kinzinger says the country needs harsher so-called red flag laws.

He emphasized the intention is not to take everybody's guns away, but to create solutions for responsible gun ownership.

Rep. Kinzinger says that too many Americans are obsessed with guns.

"There's a gun fetish in this country, a fetish for guns," said Rep. Kinzinger. "Look, I believe in the right to carry and bear arms. I don't believe we need to worship guns and there are too many people that do that."

Rep. Kinzinger suggests raising the age you must be to buy a rifle to 21.
