That was the point I was trying to make and it appears to be Quebec specific. I don't recall my Acadian relatives in the maritimes or the States doing it but I am going to ask .

Dan-D are way better quality than Throphy. They are on sale this week at Loblaws $12.88 / 908g for PC Members.

But then we can also have the date debate... where a lot of people write it m/d/y, which is kind of illogical order, etc. either d-m-y or y-m-d respect the order of magnitude of each part.

I will attach as humour also how we use the classic metric and imperial depending on things in Canada but those are "habits" and it is hard to change especially when it is adopted at mass socially as we need to interac with others. It might get normalized eventually, but it will take a lot of time. (This is just inconsistent somehow and not the same topic as the logic of order for unit like here or the date example).

And then if you shop for knife sharpener, stone, honing rod, etc. and hear "grit", you might hear the same number associated to grit and it won't even mean the same as there is a Japanese system and European system (a recent frustration but that is how it is in practice right now! Some don't even list the grit size... it is an important details, yet not everyone are detail oriented).

And then even language, there are lot of English variation (same in French). In French we have "langue" for "language", but we have also "langage" (I am not sure of the equivalent in English as both translate to "language" via Google Translate...). And sometime among the same "language", in different place, they won't use the word the same way or the connotation of the words will be different.

So... all this to say, I don't know if it is a good thing to put the $ before... but there must be a reason why it ended up being used that way just like there is a reason some write the date m/d/y (how we speak, e.g., December 16th, 2022). I am curious, so I will search about this all night or not... I really hope a 5 seconds Google search will tell me.
