Full Up To The Brim

Last October New Mexico senator Ben Ray Lujan promised to end bad weather and lower energy costs by spending lots of taxpayer money on “climate action.”

“Tackling the climate crisis – saving our Mother Earth – is not just the right thing to do; it will create jobs, healthier communities, and lower energy costs for our families. Now is the time to act. It’s time to get this done and deliver for the American people,”

Ben says climate “inaction” is causing the New Mexico desert to be dry.

“Farmers and ranchers in New Mexico have had to sell off their herds because of drought conditions that have made it too expensive to feed their animals.”

Ben grew up in Nambe, New Mexico along the Nambe River below Nambe Reservoir.  Streamflow below the dam is at a record high, and streamflow above the dam can’t be measured because the lake has filled up all the way to the gauge.

The mountains above Nambe have received about sixteen inches of rain in the last two months.

One of my earliest childhood memories from about 1960 was walking around that reservoir and running into a bull on the trail which I thought was going to attack us. I was so frightened I still remember it more than 60 years later. Perhaps that is why I spend my time now fighting bull excrement from politicians.
