NORTHBROOK, IL — A local Illinois State Representative will be part of an event this weekend that encourages Northbrook residents to adopt pets as part of a push to help eliminate overcrowding at local animal shelters.

State Rep. Jonathan Carroll (D-Northbrook) is partnering with the Humane Society for the event, which will be held at Border Tails Rescue from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday. The rescue shelter is located at 2975 Milwaukee Ave. in Northbrook.

“Rescue dogs and cats benefit immensely from the activities of organizations like Border Tails,” Carroll said in a statement released by his office. “It’s often true, as many families have discovered, that by rescuing a pet we give that pet a chance to rescue us. I’m happy to partner with the American Humane Society to help dogs and cats in need find their forever homes.”
