Apple Watch is reportedly getting iOS-like widgets with soon-to-be-launched watchOS 10. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the announcement will be made at the upcoming WWDC in June.

Widgets were part of the earlier iteration of watchOS. However, the company decided to remove them a few years ago. Gurman says the new widgets will play a “central part of the interface.”

watchOS 10 is said to introduce a revamped UI built around widgets, and the company will use it to display information like activity tracking, weather details, stock updates, and more. This is also said to work like an overlay, which will allow users to access a lot of information at a glance, without opening a specific app. Again, older Watch models could get limited functionality.

watchOS 10 is said to be the biggest upgrade in terms of both UI and core functionality, and this update is likely to complement iOS 17. Just like watchOS 10, iOS 17 is also said to be focused on adding several good-to-have features, including a revamped control center, support for app sideloading, and more.

Apple will officially unveil watchOS 10, iOS 17, iPadOS 17, new macOS and a lot more at WWDC 2023 on June 5. Besides software announcements, the company is also expected to announce several new macs, including a 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Pro with Apple Silicon, and the company is also said to announce its first mixed reality headset — reality Pro, running on xrOS.
