ClearFlame Engine Technologies raised $30M. ClearFlame develops technology for diesel engines that allows them to run on renewable liquids while keeping the same power output. The $30 million funding round was led by Mercuria Energy Group. The new capital will enable ClearFlame to enter the agtech market and launch a long-haul trucking pilot. [Built In Chicago]

Bond Vet announced plans to open new Chicago locations. Bond Vet is a veterinary care center with telehealth services available. The company currently has 28 locations across New York, Boston and Washington, D.C. Soon, it will open three locations in Chicago. Bond Vet was founded in 2018 and has raised $195 million in funding, according to Crunchbase. [Chicago Business Journal]

RedShelf reeled in $15M for its e-textbook platform. Redshelf was founded in 2012 and has developed an e-book marketplace for students and universities. The company plans to integrate its marketplace into as many universities as possible following its recent funding raise. RedShelf has raised $43.1 million in capital to date. [Built In Chicago]

Discovery Partners Institute partnered with Hope Chicago. The newly forged partnership will provide paid tech apprenticeships for Chicago Public Schools graduates and their adult family members. Discovery Partners Institute will begin by offering full-stack software development programs. At the end of the program, participants have the opportunity to secure jobs.
