Lunit recently signed an agreement with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) to proceed with the fourth year of the “AI Convergence Medical Image Diagnostic Reading System Project” and agreed to supply Lunit Insight CXR, an AI image analysis solution for chest X-rays.

Lunit has been participating in the project since 2020 in a consortium with Basgen Bio. As the consortium organizer, Lunit is in charge of overseeing the business and supplying Lunit Insight CXR, while Basgenbio is providing AI solutions for musculoskeletal fracture diseases.

During last year’s project, Lunit supplied Lunit Insight CXR to land, sea, and air military medical institutions, including the Armed Forces Medical Command and the Armed Forces Capital Hospital, and received excellent reviews.

Based on such results, the company will expand the scope of solution provision to overseas military hospitals.

The company stressed that it will strive to improve the medical environment of troops in combat zones with weak medical infrastructure, such as naval vessels.

To this end, it plans to significantly increase accessibility by developing customized AI solutions linked to portable X-ray equipment and establishing a stable utilization system.

"Through our participation in the government's AI+X project, Lunit has proven that medical AI can improve the efficiency of military hospitals and contribute to the provision of quality healthcare services," Lunit CEO Suh Beom-suk said.

This is the first year that Lunit's AI service will be introduced to overseas military hospitals, Seo added.

Seo stressed that the company will further accelerate the spread of medical AI services to not only military medical institutions but also public health centers nationwide and strengthen public healthcare infrastructure."
