Sauber have revealed in a press release that Audi have secured a minority stake in the team this month (January 2023). This marks the first step towards the full name change in 2026.

Audi have secured a minority share in the Sauber Group, effective from January 2023. In October it was announced that there would be a cooperation with the German car manufacturer from 2026 and it was also hinted that there would be a step-by-step takeover. The first step has now been taken.

Andreas Seidl, the new CEO of the Sauber Group, must manage this transfer from Alfa Romeo to Audi. The Formula 1 team will continue to use Ferrari engines until 2025. In addition to Seidl, the role of team boss was also filled last week, just not under the traditional Team Principal name. Alessandro Alunni Bravi is the new team representative.
