Iconic F1 car smashes auction record

The Ferrari F2003-GA driven by Michael Schumacher when he became F1 World Champion in 2003 has gone under the auction hammer for a record amount.

Ferrari's 2003 championship-winning car has gone under auction for a record amount, selling this week to an unnamed buyer for $14,630,000. This is almost double the previous record set by the F2001 also driven by Schumacher, which sold for $7,504,000 in 2017. The F2003 is one of the most successful F1 cars ever built, having been used by Schumacher to clinch his sixth Drivers' World Championship after winning five races. He finished ahead of rival Kimi Raikkonen by just two points. The seven-time World Champion's son, Mick Schumacher, recently tested the car at the Ferrari circuit in Maranello after it was completely rebuilt by Ferrari's Formula 1 Clienti department.
