Illinois Poor People’s Campaign

Saturday saw a march to the Lincoln Statue at the Capital in Springfield.

The Illinois Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival joined dozens of states from across the country in ‘Marches on Main Street’ events in a coordinated campaign of voter engagement leading up to the Nov 8^th Midterm elections.

The March on Main Street featured poor, low-income impacted people and people of conscience gathering together at the state capital to make deman a third reconstruction agenda and highlight the power of low-income voters.

The March was supported and endorsed by numerous organizations: The Illinois Union of the Homeless, Indivisible Illinois, A Just Harvest, Southeast Environmental Task Force (SETF), Resistor Sisterhood and more.

According to the Poor People’s Campaign, 20 million poor and low-income voters sat out the 2020 election.
