Don't Like a Comment on TikTok? You Can Hit the 'Dislike' Button

TikTok rolled the new feature late September.
TikTok said Friday that it's rolling out a comment dislike button for people worldwide. The feature was created to help TikTok get feedback from its users, helping to identify "irrelevant or inappropriate" comments. The social video app started testing the dislike button back in April and released the feature Friday.

Similar to the dislike feature on YouTube, you can take your dislike back whenever you'd like by tapping the button again. Dislikes won't be made public. In fact, you won't be able to see how many dislikes a comment has received, and commenters won't be notified that their comment has been disliked.
When the short-form video app first started testing the feature, it said this wasn't a way to report comments, but rather to flag comments that could be spam or aren't relevant in the context of the video, according to a report from TechCrunch. To report comments for harassment, bullying, hate speech and the like, users should continue using TikTok's standard reporting process.
TikTok's goal is to "foster a comment section for genuine and authentic interactions" with the new dislike button, the company said in a tweet. "Our main priority with this feature is to create a better experience for our community."
