CONWAY, Ark. — Bellarmine University track and field scored in both the women's and men's hammer throw Thursday on the opening day of the ASUN Outdoor Championship at host Central Arkansas' Richard Martin Jr. Track and the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex.
Sophomore
Alysia Hurtado collected three points after placing sixth in the women's hammer throw (49.01), while junior
Luke Wunsch tallied a point after finishing eighth in the men's hammer throw (42.72).
Chase Austin set a new men's freshman program record in the 1500 after recording a 3:50.23, which bested the 3:50.68 of
Chase Atkins at the 2023 Clark Wood Open.
Austin advanced to the finals, as did sophomore
Zac Hutslar in the 200 (21.60) and freshman
Jacey Harding in the women's 400 hurdles (1:06.58).
The three-day event will continue Friday.
