SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Getting your COVID-19 shot could soon get you a free shot of alcohol.
The Illinois General Assembly has passed Senate Bill 104.
The legislation includes a "shot and a beer" incentive. This would allow Illinois bars and restaurants to offer one free drink with proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
The promotion would expire on July 11.

SB104 would also expand the state's "cocktails-to-go" program until Jan. 3, 2024.
It would allow single servings of wine to be available for delivery, as well as products that are filled, labeled, and sealed by the manufacturer.
Additionally, under this bill, businesses could pay their wine and spirit distributors with a credit card. Lawmakers say this is in an effort to give businesses more options for cash flow management.
The legislation now heads to Gov. JB Pritzker's desk.
