Tennessee State Rep. Mike Carter passes away after pancreatic cancer battle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(WDEF)- Tennessee State Representative Mike Carter passed away last night after a battle with pancreatic Cancer.

A family representative tweeted the news this morning.

 He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after his bout with COVID-19 in November.

Carter represented Ooltewah and District 29 for 9 years.

He played a large role in the anti-annexation bill for Oooltewah, during his time in office.

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann says, “He always gave back and then he finally stepped up in the role of my state representative in Nashville. He did a tremendous job passing key legislation in so many different areas to help the people of Tennessee. So, the tremendous legacy, the tremendous life of service. Mike will be sorely missed.”

Carter was 67.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced yet.

Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly tweeted his condolences.
