Senior CPI leader D Pandian passes away in Chennai at 89
Senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Pandian passed in Chennai at the age of 89 years on Friday morning.
Senior Communist leader and former Tamil Nadu state secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) D. Pandian passed away in Chennai on Friday morning. Pandian died at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai where he was admitted due to ill health.
As per a report, Pandian was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital on Wednesday in an unconscious state with sepsis and hypoglycemia. He was put on life-saving medications and ventilator support. He breathed his last at 10.05 a.m.
Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan tweeted his condolences on Twitter saying Pandian's death is a huge loss to Tamil Nadu politics.

TTV Dhinakaran of AMMK also tweeted, "I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of the late D Pandian, a veteran Communist leader and former Member of Parliament."

D Pandian was elected to the Lok Sabha as an Indian National Congress's United People Alliance (UPA-1) - United Communist Party of India (UCPI) candidate from North Chennai constituency in 1989 and 1991 elections. He was the Tamil Nadu State Secretary of the Communist Party of India for nearly six years till 2015 when he was succeeded by R. Mutharasan.
