Is This the Best Lens That Fujifilm Has Ever Made?

In September this year, Fujifilm announced a wide range of new primes, seemingly part of an ongoing effort to update its range of glass with sharper lenses complete with better autofocus and wider apertures. Has Fujifilm produced a better lens than the 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR?

Fujifilm fans were eagerly waiting for the 33mm f/1.4 this year, as proven by the fact that the Japanese manufacturer was forced to issue an apology to customers in September after the sheer volume of preorders meant that demand far exceeded supply and many would have to wait before their lenses arrived. Right now it’s backordered on B&H Photo and other major retailers, and I suspect that there will be plenty who will be annoyed at not having this in their stockings this Christmas.

At $799, it’s not a cheap lens, but it does seem to deliver a lot for the money and makes for an excellent upgrade from the 35mm f/2. Frustratingly, that can also be hard to track down, so if you’re after a Fujifilm standard prime from Santa this year, you might need to hunt around.

Do you find that this lens gives your images something that you can’t quite describe? Let us know in the comments below.

that extra stop means nothing if it weighs you down and can easily be compensated for in software
the high-end fujis will be stabilized in the future, so that extra stop might even be totally redundant

I'm sorry but this is a really crummy way of writing an article - post a headline and then ask the public to fill in the blanks with their 'experiences' - 2/10

You should include which lens range you are talking about in the title or body of the article. The XF range is not the same as the GFX range. My camera uses GFX lenses, so I have no interest in the XF range, hence no interest in the article.

Being a little pedantic there?

No, it should be stated up front. I have a GFX, but no interest in the crop sensor Fuji cameras (I also use a Nikon Z7).

It took you longer to type your snotty message on here than it does to read the first sentence of the article to realise which lens they are discussing.

You are being pedantic, plain and simple.

Stop being a jerk and grow up.

Touche.

So...the red "XF" badge on the lens didn't give this away?

All I saw was the title and a mountain. I'm a Nikon guy, I don't know anything about Fuji, other than the GFX 100S, which I've owned for about 3 weeks now.
