My parents' corgi loves to be present when my German shepherd and I are playing fetch, and she will even steal it from him sometimes, but as far as running after the ball? Not a chance. Just wait for him to bring it back and grab it after he drops it to the ground but before I can pick it up.
If my corgi sees another dog playing fetch at the dog park, she'll wait halfway between the person and the dog fetching to chase the dog on their way back
I've had corgis my whole life (three right now) and by God I have not heard a more apt description.

It’s a baby, and they’re more stamina than sprinting. They can sprint 20+ mph but have the stamina to herd cattle all day.
