A nonprofit group in Illinois, the PIRG Education Fund, on Thursday released its "Trouble in Toyland" guide.

The group said this year poses new challenges with everyone at home because of the pandemic and sharing toys.

They said many toys bought online are not suitable for younger children despite what the description says, adding that "parents need to be on guard."

Also, new to the report this year are flocked animals like the "Calico Critters." The group said the small figures pose a choking risk.

"The pandemic has led to more unsupervised play for children of all ages," noted Abe Scarr, who's the PIRG Education Fund director, in a release Thursday. "Because of this, prevention is the best medicine! To protect your children, do your homework and make sure dangerous products don’t get into your house in the first place."
