Police in Trafford have issued a warning to parents after reports of a teens with knives in a park.

GMP say they received reports of two people carrying blades in Davyhulme Park and that officers who responded were given the "run around" by a group of youths during a patrol, with one making a gun gesture.

They have now vowed the response will be "robust" if anti-social behaviour like this continues in the borough's green spaces.

In a post on Facebook, GMP Trafford North said over the weekend they had been called to deal with a "high number of incidents" in the park including reports of a youth with a knife, reports of a male with a knife, and reports of a 14-year-old girl assaulting another 14-year-old amongst others.

As a result officers visited, however they say they were barracked and verbally abused.

"On our arrival at the park there has been a large group of youths mostly on bikes giving us the run around shouting over and making hand gestures towards to the police," they said.

"Last night one of which was a gun gesture with their hand. We have also had a report of Criminal Damage to the bowling green.

"Parents.. I think it's time to have some conversations with your kids about respect. Since Lock down Anti-Social Behaviour has increased in all of the parks in the Urmston & Flixton area and several reports of drug dealing etc."

They also attached pictures of litter left behind in Flixton Park.

"The parks and green spaces in Trafford are for everyone" the post continued.

"If there is a continuation of this behaviour tonight and moving forward then please don’t be surprised if you get a knock at your door from us or a phone call from police custody.

"The response tonight will be robust."
