Britney Spears is ENGAGED! Pop star announces her betrothal to Sam Asghari after five years together as she shows off her four carat diamond ring amid conservatorship battle

Britney Spears is engaged.

The pop star, 39, revealed the happy news via Instagram on Sunday, sharing a smiling video of her flashing her custom four carat Forever Diamonds NY engagement ring while fiancé Sam Asghari, 27, peeked in from the side.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Spears wrote: 'I can’t f***ing believe it!!!'

This comes not long after news that her father Jamie Spears was moving to end her financial conservatorship - a ruling which Britney previously revealed stopped her from getting married or having children with Sam.

Britney's news marks a momentous moment in her legal battle, as back in June, while trying to be freed from her father's control, revealed in a court testament that she was not allowed to wed under her ruling. 

She said: 'I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married or have a baby.'

Sam's manager Brandon Cohen confirmed the news via a statement shortly after the lovebirds both posted on their Instagram accounts 

'The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them,' He said, adding that Spears' new ring was designed by N.Y.C. jeweler Roman Malayev. 

The bespoke design features a four-carat round brilliant stone in a platinum cathedral setting, and is enhanced with a floating solitaire design and has pavé detailing on the bridge.

 'He couldn't be happier to be involved and make this one-of-a-kind ring,' added Cohen.

Sam shared the news on his own Instagram account with a playful snap of Britney seeming to flip the bird, except she had her ring finger raised to showcase the massive sparkling diamond.

Sam took to his Instagram Story later that evening to address those who were imploring Britney to sign a prenup before tying the knot.

He joked: 'Thank you everyone is concerned about The prenup. Of course we're getting iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day [crying while laughing emojis].' 

Just 25 minutes earlier he shared a cryptic text post to his Insta Stories, writing, 'Biggest news..... Can't wait to share.' 

Sam and Britney first came into each other's orbit in October 2016, when she starred with the Iran-born actor in her Slumber Party video.

Fittingly, her future fiancé was cast as her love interest. 

Britney's friend Paris Hilton was among those congratulating her in the comments.

'Congratulations love!! So happy for you! Welcome to the club!' wrote the recently engaged heiress.

Her mother Kathy Hilton also gave her congratulations along with several heart emojis. 

Jersey Shore star Jenni 'JWoww' Farley posted fire emojis and wrote 'congratulations,' while designer Christian Siriano simply posted more fire emojis.

Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe joked, 'I'm going to need 3–5 business days to recover from this news.'

Kesha commented, 'Congratulations!!!!!!!!,' and Brandon Frankel echoed her sentiments.

Octavia Spencer left some of Britney's fans in stitches after she urged the pop star to 'Make him sign a prenup' in the comments.

Several Twitter users were reminded of her character from the horror film Ma. 

The post appeared to have been deleted, but that didn't stop people from discussing it, though most thought her advice was simply common sense.

On Friday, Sam shocked Britney's fans when two closeup photos of a diamond ring appeared in his Instagram Stories.

The second photo gave a clear look at the inside of the band, where Sam's pet name for Britney, 'Lioness,' was engraved. 

However, the images were quickly deleted, and he claimed that his account had been hacked and that the pictures were Photoshopped. 

However, the ring that Britney showed off in Sam's post appeared to be identical to the one in the photos that he claimed were illegitimate.

According to Ajay Anand of the diamond marketplace RareCarat.com, the Toxic singer's ring appears to be a 'modest' 3.5 carat round cut solitaire, which would be worth approximately $70K.

The ring had a four-prong solitaire design, favoring tradition and elegance over flashiness.

Although a $70K ring is several times what the average American pays for an engagement ring, it's smaller than many of the astounding sums celebrities often shell out for opulent diamond rings.

Earlier this month, Asghari caused a stir when he was spotted shopping for rings at a Cartier store in Beverly Hills.

The Black Monday actor was seen making rounds in the shop to check out multiple display cases, according to Page Six.

He also appeared to take a photo of one particular item. 

A source told the outlet that Asghari had been 'talking about popping the question more and more lately.'

'Sam wants to spoil Britney with a very special, over-the-top and meaningful proposal when the time is right,' they continued

The source added that the dancer was hoping to start a family with the hitmaker and stated that she might also be interested in the idea.

After initially meeting Sam on her Slumber Party video, Britney made their relationship Instagram official in January of 2017 with a photo of them dining that was posted on New Year's Day.

In February 2018, Britney celebrated just over year with her boyfriend in a gushing Instagram post.

'I’ve been with this man for over a year,' she wrote. 'Everyday he inspires me to be a better person and that makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world!!'

Almost immediately, he became a consistent presence on her social media accounts, and the notably fit actor even helped Britney stay in tip-top shape.

The entertainers have been sparking engagement rumors at least since the summer of 2019.

In July of that year, Britney and Sam were dressed to the nines for the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, but eagle-eyed observers noted that she wore a diamond ring on her left hand.

In recent months, Britney's fiancé has been a regular support as she battles to end her conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008, with her father Jamie Spears acting as her conservator for much of the time.

After his jewelry shop visit, an insider told Page Six about Sam's negative views of her father and the arrangement. 

'Sam hates seeing Britney not be able to make decisions for herself and frankly doesn't care for her dad because of it,' they stated.

'Even though they have wanted to take the next step for a while now, Britney and Sam know it would be so much easier to do if she weren't under the restraints she's under,' they added.

Jamie first took control of Britney's finances and personal decisions in February of 2008.

A month earlier, the singer had been placed on two psychiatric holds, which helped set the conservatorship in motion.

Her initial visit to a psychiatric hospital came after she refused to turn over her children to her ex-husband Kevin Federline when she was supposed to based on their custody arrangement.

By the end of the year the conservatorship was extended indefinitely, and it's currently still in place.

However, amid reporting about the circumstances of Britney's conservatorship, which doesn't allow her to make any financial decisions for herself, many of her fans joined the #FreeBritney movement, which seeks the end of the legal arrangement.

Since last year, the pop superstar has been vocal about having her father Jamie removed from his position as conservator, and she recently replaced her court-appointed counsel with the attorney Mathew Rosengart, whom she requested. 

The end is near: Last week, Jamie made the shocking declaration that the conservatorship should be ended in a court filing, which came even before Britney's lawyer had filed to end it; seen with same in July 2019

In a shocking development, Jamie announced in August that he would be stepping down from his role as conservator, though he notably didn't include any timeline for his departure.

He suddenly went further last week when he filed in court to end the conservatorship all together.

However, sources close to Britney alleged to TMZ last week that Jamie filed to end the conservatorship before her lawyer had even requested as much because he believes the judge overseeing the case will require a mental evaluation first, which Jamie allegedly believes his daughter will fail.

The sources claimed that he hoped that such a failure might bring his daughter even closer to him.

Britney has had a string of high-profile relationships, starting with Justin Timberlake.

The pair struck up a romance years after meeting on The Mickey Mouse Club in the 90s.

They confirmed their romance in 1998 and split in 2002.

It was rumored Britney had cheated on Justin with dance choreographer Wade Robson.

In 2004 Britney wed Jason Alexander. Their marriage only lasted 55 hours.

The popstar announced her engagement to backup dancer Kevin Federline that same year, with the couple tying the knot in 2004.

Britney and Kevin welcomed their first son Sean Preston in 2005 and in 2006 Britney gave birth to Jayden.

They divorced in 2007 and that same year Britney briefly dated music producer J.R. Rotem.

Britney then struck up a romance with Sam in 2016 after they met on the set of her Slumber Party music video.
