U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos announced Monday that she has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Democratic Congresswoman broke the news on her social media pages.
She says she’s experiencing “mild symptoms”, is feeling well, and adds she’s been in contact with her medical provider and is self-isolating.
Bustos says she will work from home in Illinois until cleared by her physician.
Everyone that Bustos has been in contact has been notified.
She notes that cases of COVID-19 are surging across her congressional district, but also across the country.
She urges residents to adhere to the same advice they’ve been hearing for months; wear a mask, maintain six feet of distance when possible, and wash hands.
