Ah, the 4th of July: that traditional time of year when we hunker down in our homes and shop for mattresses and vacuum cleaners to make more months of quarantine comfortable. This year might not look like celebrations we've had in years past. Still, if you're looking for something to distract you from all the big barbecues that aren't happening, we scoured the internet high and low for sales and discounts on home appliances, mattresses, and more.
We also have a separate roundup on the Best 4th of July Outdoor Gear Deals, so check it out if you're planning a (safe) camping trip with your quarantine bubble.
Many of the mattresses in our Best Mattresses guide are now on sale. We linked to queen-size beds, but you can click through to find the mattress in your preferred size.
Helix Sleep Midnight Luxe Mattress for $1,599 ($200 off): Use code FOJ200. Reviews editor Jeffrey Van Camp actually fell asleep while testing Helix's hybrid mattress in a noisy room full of other testers and mattresses. The individually wrapped coils are firmer in areas where you need more support, like your lower spine.
Allswell Supreme Hybrid Mattress for $837 ($148 off): Use code SLEEP15. Jeffrey also loved the Allswell, which feels much more expensive than it actually is.
Birch Natural Mattress for $1,299 ($200 off): Use code FOJ200. WIRED writer Louryn Strampe loves this mattress, and no wonder—it's the eco-friendly mattress line made by Helix, which makes our favorite mattress above.
Brooklyn Signature Hybrid Queen Mattress for $750 ($250 off): Use code INDEPENDENCE25. Jeffrey liked this mattress so much he bought the firm version and slept on it for a few years.
Layla Memory Foam Queen Mattress for $849 ($150 off): You can flip Layla's mattress to pick the soft or firm side, depending on your sleeping preferences.
Tuft & Needle Mint Queen Mattress for $845 ($150 off): One of the best parts of this unusually squishy mattress is a layer of ceramic gel foam that both provides support and disperses heat.
Tulo Medium Queen Mattress for $399 ($300 off): This is the best affordable yet customizable foam mattress that we found.
Leesa Queen Hybrid Mattress for $1,499 ($200 off): Like the Helix, Jeffrey says the Leesa is one of the best picks on the market. It's also a hybrid mattress, with a soft but firm, pressure-relieving feel.
Nectar Memory Foam Queen Mattress for $799 ($399 off): For side sleepers, this is our favorite pick.
Dyson V10 Stick Vacuum for $399 ($100 off): Many WIRED staffers have found Dyson's cordless stick vacuums life-changing. This is the (slightly) more affordable version, but we have other recommendations in our guide to Dyson vacuums.
Neato Robotics D7 Connected Robot Vacuum for $600 ($230 off): This machine made it into our guide of the Best Robot Vacuums. It's smart, powerful, and is great for a deep clean.
LG Over the Range Microwave for $180 ($70 off): Best Buy is holding an appliance sale over the weekend. The selection is a little limited but worth checking out if you've been holding off on buying a pricey refrigerator. Our pick is this simple over-the-range microwave. According to the reviews, it's very user-friendly, and the price can't be beat.
Ninja Foodi 8-Quart 9-in-1 Deluxe XL Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer for $150 ($120 off): We are inordinately fond of air fryers. This one has multiple functions and some great specs, like a ceramic-coated basket and nanoceramic inner pot.
TCL 65-Inch 8 Series 4K HDR TV for $1,000 ($1,000 off): We here at WIRED love TCL's affordable 6 Series range of TVs, but if you want to go up a level, the 8 Series offers improved picture quality. Plus, this price makes it a steal.
Apple MacBook Air (2020) for $900 ($100 off): This is the cheapest MacBook you can get from Apple's new lineup, which means you get the revamped keyboard. This is the Core i3 model, which should be sufficient if you're not doing anything too intensive.
HP Pavilion x360 14-Inch for $530 ($150 off): WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson says this is a reliable, if slightly boring, traditional Windows laptop. You get plenty of ports, lots of RAM, and a very nice keyboard. The downside? Battery life isn't great, and it's heavy.
Acer Aspire 5 15.6-Inch Windows Laptop for $580 ($90 off): Need an affordable laptop? Reviewer Gilbertson says this is the best 15-inch he's tested. The display isn't the sharpest, but there are plenty of ports, and it's powerful enough to watch 4K videos.
HP Pavilion X360 Laptop for $530 ($150 off): This HP laptop is a reliable machine with its varied ports and extra RAM. Battery life isn't the greatest but considering the price, this machine will do most tasks well.
Apple iPad for $279 ($50 off): Apple's base iPad, which was refreshed in 2019, has dipped to this price several times this year already, but if you haven't snagged it yet, you have another opportunity. This is an excellent tablet for most people, and it's powerful enough to handle some light work too. Especially if you pair it with Apple's Smart Keyboard.
Vizio 60" SmartCast SmartTV for $478 ($50 off): Vizio makes some of our favorite affordable TVs, and this is a good price for a TV this size.
Samsung Galaxy S20 5G for $850 ($150 off): The Galaxy S20 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of the best smartphones of 2020. The screen is fantastic, performance is speedy, and you get a fun triple-camera system. Our main gripe was that it's too expensive, but at this discounted price, it's easier to stomach.
MysteryVibe Crescendo for $120 ($30 off): Use code HEATWAVE20. This is one of our favorite, smart, body-inclusive sex toys.
Yamaha YAS-109 for $180 ($60 off): This is one of our top picks for a soundbar. It has a built-in subwoofer too. Not sure if you need a soundbar? You probably do.
Apple Watch Series 3 for $179 ($20 off): The Series 3 is getting a little long in the tooth, but at this price it still trumps most of the smartwatch competition. If you have an iPhone but don't have Apple's wearable, this is a great way to test the waters. The Series 3 has heart-rate tracking, GPS, it's water resistant, and you can easily swap out the bands.
Razer Viper Ultralight Ambidextrous Wired Gaming Mouse for $50 ($30 off): Razer makes some of our favorite mechanical keyboards and gaming mice. This is a great option for lefties.
Apple HomePod for $200 ($100 off): Apple's Siri speaker isn't the best smart speaker around, but it does win in sound quality. It's fantastic. Even better, Apple is bringing a suite of updates that will soon allow you to use third-party music streaming services instead of just Apple Music.
Anker Power Strip with USB-C for $29 ($5 off): You get two AC outlets, two USB-A ports, and one USB-C port in this small, reliable package from Anker. Don't forget to clip the coupon to get the full discount.
Aukey Omnia 100W PD Charger for $41 ($14 off): This is an exclusive discount for WIRED readers, so use code WIREDPAB5 to see the savings. GanFast is a new technology that reduces the size of power adapters while still delivering lots of power. This one from Aukey will charge your MacBook Pro just fine, and it's a good deal smaller than the brick you got from Apple. The discount ends on July 15.
Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case for iPhone 11 Pro for $8 ($7 off): A bunch of Spigen cases are on sale; they make one of our favorite affordable iPhone cases.
Earlier this week, we highlighted many of our favorite outdoor gear deals. This is a good time to point out that some of our favorite outdoor gear retailers, including REI and Backcountry, are holding big sales through the weekend. Be sure to check out our other picks, but we have a few here as well.
Coleman Compact Propane Stove for $43 ($15 off): When it comes to affordable, reliable, durable, portable camp stoves, you're not going to do much better than a Coleman. You'll see one of these classic green stoves at every campsite for a reason.
Ultimate Direction Adventure Vesta for $96 ($64 off): Are your runs getting longer and longer since those precious hours are the only time you can escape your family? We love this hydration vest, and we have a few more running gear picks here.
Chaco Lowdown Women's Sandals for $64 ($21 off): It's almost too bad that Chacos last forever, because otherwise you could get these sandals in more than one color. The men's version is also on sale.
