Formed in the Chateau Rouge area of Paris, Bantou Mentale consist of Congolese musicians Apocalypse, Cubain Kabeya and Chicco Katembo, along with Irish/French producer Doctor L.
Following their 2019 eponymous debut, the group are set to release the seven track Congo Animal EP via Glitterbeat on 26 June.
The band call Congo Animal a “soundtrack for [this] new world, mashed together from bits of over-cranked kalimba and Kasai beat inspiration” with “keening vocals from Apocalypse, Cubain Kabeya’s percussion and voice, Chicco’s guitar – all looped, sequenced, cloned by Doctor L, currently locked down in Dakar.”
