Report: Brady Farkas Out as 101.3 The Game Burlington PD
RADIO ONLINE | Sunday, August 2, 2020 |
WCPV-FM (101.3 The Game)/Burlington, VT Program Director and sports personality Brady Farkas is out at the Sports outlet, reports the Burlington Free Press. Farkas, who had worked at the station since 2016, exited over low ratings and a need for change, General Manager Ken Barlow told newspaper on Friday. Farkas was also a co-host with Arnie Spanier and Rich Haskell on "The Huddle," in afternoons from 3-6pm.
"We decided the station needed a bit of a different direction. It's still going to be a sports station," said Barlow, also the co-owner of six stations under the VOX AM/FM group. "Frankly, the ratings weren't where they should be for a sports station in this market."
"I'm disappointed that the pandemic finally reached 101.3 The Game. I feel we accomplished great things and I will miss working every day with Arnie, Rich and Aaron (Wells). We built something special and I will miss being a part of it," Farkas told the newspaper.
However, Farkas disputed Barlow's claim of poor ratings since 2018. "We went through an affiliation switch from ESPN to Fox Sports Radio in fall of 2018 and delivered a number one rated station in fall of 2019," Farkas wrote. "I am proud of the work our staff accomplished in order to achieve that."
The Free Press also reports that T.J. Michaels, previously a parttime worker at Barlow's stations, has named to replace Farkas beginning Tuesday, August 4.
