I love the little double tap on the butt at the end, strikes me as something a human would do. Tho I’m not sure why.

u/wrenchan6 avatar

It’s the “your ok baby” pat also known as the “ now off you go”

u/how_can_you_live avatar

Kinda like a playful "get your butt up there" I spank my wife's booty going up the stairs in front of me.

[deleted]
[deleted]

So do I.

Why are you smacking his wife's booty?

😏

[deleted]
[deleted]

You know how the scratch part of a scratch n sniff activates the smell part?

Same principle. The smack activates her hoo ha.

... why are you activating his wife's hoo ha?

Our cats live to play our laps are lava (until I put the heating pad on my lap). Then it turns into ‘must knead’ bread dough!

It’s amazing the difference in personalities between cats. We took in a pregnant stray whose mothering skills turned out to be somewhere between “meth addict” and “dementia patient”. She fed her kittens, but outside of that? Nada.
I once had to climb through a window I was repairing when I saw her grab one of her kittens and deposit it on top of the washing machine, before hopping off and returning to her bed.

2 sister kittens had adopted our family (yes I wrote that correctly). They eventually had kittens of their own and gave birth to 4 kittens each in the same week. Late night meth addict sister never took care of her litter. Stay at home sister took care of her own like a boss; she watched anxiously at the neglected kittens and one day had basically "had enough" and picked up all 4 neglected kittens and mothered 8 herself. Never saw trashy cat after that.

u/EfficientAngle avatar

Thank you :)

I learned this the super hard way after owning and loving 4 really lovely, well adjusted, cats throughout my childhood and then adopting what turned out to be a bipolar sweet/demon cat while I was in college. In my experience they're either great or really not great.

...motherhood was really that bad, eh?

I had more fun watching that than season 8 of Game of Thrones.

u/DragonNestKing avatar

That’s a really low bar, though.

u/ba3toven avatar

It's actually recessed into the ground.

u/DragonNestKing avatar

It went through the Earth.

Holy shit I laughed so hard I farted, then choked on my own saliva and had to take a moment to relax back to normal breathing.

What you said is both incredibly true and disappointing.

I like the extra pat on the butt at the end.

u/KatTheDogFosterer avatar

I really thought she was going to push the kitten off the table.

I like how she's facing the other way, and slightly behind, so kitty doesn't know he's being watched.

That cat is me every time I look at my son and see him getting ready to do something stupid. I can literally see the gears turning in his head like yeahhhh, I can do this. No kid, no you cant.

I loved that little "go get 'em lad" at the end

That little pat on the side in the end, like, yeh kiddo you are good

damn those reflexes ;0

I just love that she lets her try the jump on her own, but then she’s there for her as soon as she falls

u/Tweezee331 avatar

The pure look of terror on that kittens face as it realized it missed was beautiful

[deleted]
[deleted]

I'll let you jump but I won't let you fall

u/Cirrus19 avatar

Clearly the mom every female strives to be. #PerfectParent

r/catlikereflexes

Edit: apparently, that is a subreddit for a podcast... who knew?

u/UmaLoveHusky avatar

Good Mama.

Damn, lightning reflexes.

u/Firefighter353 avatar

I swear I felt my heart melt

What breed are these two?

u/bkkhk avatar

Mama let the jump happen, so the kitten would feel the fear of falling, and not get hurt, to learn for next time

u/Dependent-Childhood avatar

This cat has more maternal instincts than my own mom did

Helimeowpter parent.

u/honcooge avatar

She knew the kitten was gonna fail.

u/Tyldo avatar

The gentle little bum tap at the end 🥰🥰🥰

Up you go!

u/IJustNeedInfinity avatar

Omg this reminded me of The Lion King!

Cat like reflexes

I love this one.

u/Dragoniod0808 avatar

Dam wish my parents where like this

every mother is protective like that for her children

this is like the one-handed dad catch as their kid flys backwards off a swing

u/rirruto_lives avatar

Awww, the little "you got it" pat on the bum..

Everything makes me cry right now, and I am blubbering like a baby. I frackin love cats.

They're just playing "the floor is lava", and the mother cat doesn't want her baby to lose.

I love how the cat didn't intervene till the jump was made. Letting those wings open, fly babies flyyyyyy

Had a thought...

Back in the day, parents would just watch their kids (or maybe not) attempt things without interfering, only stepping in if/when their kids were having difficulty - y'know, to help and mentor - so the kids would try, learn and grow.

This cat is like those parents.

I can only imagine that, if this cat was like some modern parents, she would jump up, scruff her kit, jump over, and drop it off. Then maybe praise her kit for a job well done (paw on head).

I like this cat mom. Good cat mom.

Don't be the helicopter cat mom.

my buddy spotting me at the gym

"you got it, you got it, oh shi-I mean you got it, that was all you"

NOPE NOPE NOPE YOU AINT FAILING ON MY WATCH NOT WHEN YOU TRIED SO HARD

-this mama cat

A better Mother than a lot of human parents.

The but pats at the end!!!!

Not of this year though as this video is very old

Love the little pat on the tush at the end

Precious!!

Love this!

Aw better than expected

Woop woop!! Well done!

Hey man, don't forget that white people are privileged and are therefore less likely to bring their children into a life of poverty or crime. Seems like white women care more about their babies than minority women.

u/AdventurousLeopard avatar

Ya but ,.. they care less about their kids , babies than their ancestors once did :(
