David King Crawls Back Out Of Woodwork

Look who has just crawled out of the woodwork!

Several of the world’s leading scientists plan to launch an independent expert group this week to advise, warn and criticise global policymakers about the climate and nature crises.

The new body has been inspired by Independent Sage – the cluster of British scientists who have held UK ministers and civil servants to account for their lack of transparency and mishandling of the Covid pandemic.

The Climate Crisis Advisory Group, comprising 14 experts from 10 nations and every continent, aims to have more of an international reach and provide the global public with regular analysis about efforts to tackle the global heating and biodiversity crises.

Headed by the former UK chief scientific adviser Sir David King, the new group will issue monthly updates about the state of the global environment at meetings that will be open to the media and the public. These online gatherings will be chaired by the BBC presenter Ade Adepitan.

“We are hoping that by putting expertise directly into the public domain we are reaching into policymakers’ decision processes, and into the financial sector and how they invest in our future,” King told the Observer. “We are not just going to say ‘this is the state of the global climate’, but also what should the global response be from governments and companies … What we do in the next five years will determine the future of humanity for the next millennium.”

The experts – who include Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency and Johan Rockström, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research – also plan to issue statements and respond to journalists’ inquiries on breaking news, such as declarations by the G7, reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, new targets set by national governments, actions taken by major corporations, and geoengineering proposals, such as refreezing the Arctic.

https://www.theguardian.com/science/2021/jun/20/head-of-independent-sage-to-launch-international-climate-change-group

Contrary to the Guardian’s false assertion, the Independent Sage was nothing more than a joke, which nobody other than the Guardian took seriously (though some news outlets confused their utterings for the real thing, which was doubtless the real objective of King.) As Guido revealed at the time, Independent Sage was made up entirely of actual communists, Labour Party donors, activists, Corbynistas, “anti-Zionists”, Brexit conspiracy theorists and even a former Greek socialist MP. Susan Michie , for example was a member of the British Communist party for 40 yrs, a Corbyn donor, wife of Corbyn SpAd Andrew Murray, and mother of Labour’s Head of Complaints Laura Murray). Their sole intention was to publish anti-government propaganda.

King himself has been actively involved in campaigning against the government and Brexit.

He was also , of course, the clown who led us to believe that we would all have to live in Antarctica by the end of the century because of global warming.

At the same Environmental Select Committee in 2004, he also made some other equally ridiculous claims:

  • Ice at the South Pole is now 40% as thick as it used to be.
  • The Gulf Stream could turn off, leading Europe into a mini ice age
  • Hydrogen powered cars would see massive penetration in the market within 10 and 15 years

And in front of another Select Committee in 2014, he made the incredible claim that Hurricane Sandy was the first hurricane to hit so far north in America, a schoolboy error which a 2-minute google would have told him was absurd. And it was King, you may recall, who advised Tony Blair to promote diesel cars.

Christopher Booker revealed in his book. “The Real Global Warming Disaster”, how King attended a 2004 climate seminar in Moscow, and promptly attempted to get half of the speakers banned as they did not share his alarmist stance. When that failed, he tried to disrupt their speeches. Finally when challenged by one scientist, the malaria expert Paul Reiter, on one particular topic, King , seemingly unable to answer, simply left the room with his delegation.

This is the man who now thinks he has the right to advise us on climate change!

One last point- why the hell is a BBC presenter getting involved in this overtly political programme?

Why do you accept the account of Christopher ‘asbestos is identical to talcum powder’ Booker without some scepticism? Unwise.

The meeting was a stitch-up organised by Andrei Illarionov, economic advisor to Putin and a man implacably opposed to any form of action against AGW, (eg describing the Kyoto Protocol as an ‘international Auschwitz’). The purpose was to legitimise some fringe ‘sceptical’ views and shore up Russia’s anti-Kyoto stance. The British delegation was not informed until the eve of the meeting that other invitees included nutters Piers Corbyn and Nils Axel-Morner – which pretty much guaranteed the conference could go nowhere. King’s behaviour was pretty restrained in the circumstances. Putin did eventually ratify Kyoto of course, but you can’t win them all….

Oh, and the Antarctica thing is another myth, natch.

Next time an ardent Leftist mentions Sandy and Climate Change, ask them why it was called Superstorm Sandy.

So far they are batting 0 for 42 in my experience.

(Of course, I think they have almost the exact same average if you ask them the molecular weight of CO2.)

Hurricane Sandy…definitions don’t matter at the NHC. They just named Claudette after writing two paragraphs in the forecast discussion explaining why the storm didn’t fit the definition of a tropical storm. Just another attempt to run up the score by naming something that didn’t fit the definition. It was too elongated and the circulation never fully closed before landfall. Still packed a good bit of tropical moisture and was a flood and wind danger.

“We are not just going to say ‘this is the state of the global climate’, but also what should the global response be from governments and companies … What we do in the next five years will determine the future of humanity for the next millennium”.
Compare and contrast:
“… But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour’…”.
King thinks he’s channelling Churchill, he has it conceptually inverted of course.

Technically there never was a British Empire. It’s always been a monarchy ruled by a King or Queen, not an Empire ruled by an Emperor or Empress. That said, the British Commonwealth is still alive and kicking. and unlike those two other “thousandyear” entities you refer to (who existence didn’t even make the century mark), the “British empire/commonwealth” has existed in one form or another for at least half that allotted time so far (since the 15th/16th centuries) so you are comparing apples to oranges.

Churchill tried and failed to maintain their empire, but it wasn’t his actions which lost it. It was events beyond his control and beyond his financially and man power strapped country’s means to counter that ended the British empire. Britain was broke before WW II ended. They could not afford the cost of maintaining a military that could force things to return to the way they were and the US would never allow them to anyway. Truman was every bit as much an antiemperialist as FDR. And the Soviet Bear loomed large and much closer to the home islands.

He messed up the Dardenelles, he messed up the conversion rate back to the Gold Exchange Rate, he did everything he could to pressure Chamberlain to sign an agreement guaranteeing Poland protection, and then turned down Hitler’s attempts to negotiate a peace agreement.

One decision after another that weakened the British Empire.

I would like to apply for the position of Chief Scientific Officer for the geoengineering Arctic refreezing project. I am available to start in September and I can guarantee results within one month and will update you on progress daily. Since this is so important to mankind and womankind, I will reduce my usual annual salary to 200,000 US dollars. If you pay me upfront in used $20s I will further reduce it to $180,000. I guarantee success and my residence in California should add extra gravitas for your continuation of funding this program. We are very tech-savvy here in California, and I can also guarantee that we can complete this program online, with no requirement for additional expenses other than your own.

Furthermore, I am in contact with a number of seasoned veterans of climate change, residing in Australia, who would be happy to tackle and combat the Antarctic sea ice issue. They are available immediately for online refreezing studies and implementation.

Your 10% implementation fee will be paid in the currency of your choice.

David King or Ludicrus Rex, take your pick.

the climate and nature crises

Today [21/06/2021] is not what you might call an example of the hotter drier summers King et al have predicted:

20 March, 2004
Delivering the 16th Millennium Lecture organised by the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) and sponsored by The Hindu Media Resource Centre for Ecotechnology and Sustainable Development in Chennai, Sir David [King] presented a graphic account of the emission of greenhouse gases and the consequent global warming

Hotter and drier summers, reduced soil moisture…

https://countercurrents.org/en-venk200304.htm

For the record, its been raining for the last week or so and it’s going to rain for most of this week too.

As for the temperature? It’s a whopping 13C or 55.4 in old money. In short, it’s an average disappointing English summer.

Today, frequent outbreaks of rain will continue across southern England, heavy at times in places.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather

It’s a crisis alright, we haven’t put the woollies away or the coats yet.

I propose a new 1 to 10 scale of ‘wrongness’ to be measured in units known as Fergusons (or Fergs for short)

The odious KIng must rank at 9 or 10 Fergs

Could someone tell that j – – – – -s that if he’s so very concerned about a warm, habitable planet, he can just come clean sidewalks and front steps in my neighborhood, come next winter?
Really, it’s possible now that we might have snow earlier than October, so if he showed up with a snow shovel that he has to work by hand (no modern conveniences, fella!), he could likely clean the streets up, too. That would make it easier for the school buses to pick up the kids for school.
I said elsewhere that Istanbul had 15 inches of snow in May. Someone with cats posted a video of it online with the cats out playing in the snow, so yes, it was real.
I’m becoming more and more convinced that these Warmians and ecohippies and their ilk really do want a cold, ice-covered planet… and I DON’T want that. What we have now is fine.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but while the above article implies the communist card carrying Marxist Prof Susan Michie is a member of the pseudo official though absolutely unofficial Independent SAGE group, that King is a key component of. she isn’t on that self appointed pointless committee.
It is worse than that.
She is actually on the official SAGE committee, that does advise the government on what to do, to destroy the economy and people’s freedoms.
SAGE are doing a first class job of providing such negative advice. The UK remains in a state of panicked closure and remains submissive. accepting flawed experts like Michie operating under the banner of being a respected group of scientific experts. They (SAGE) are neither respected or expert at advising anyone.
The great Reset continues here in the UK. Tories are now officially socialists. Greens are officially Reds and George Orwell’s novel 1984 has become the official blue print document for all authorities to follow.

Several of the world’s leading scientists plan to launch an independent expert group this week to advise, warn and criticise global policymakers about the climate and nature crises.

I would imagine that the first crisis they’d need to solve is: how do we increase our funding?

CD in Wisconsin
June 21, 2021 8:47 am

“We are hoping that by putting expertise directly into the public domain we are reaching into policymakers’ decision processes, and into the financial sector and how they invest in our future,” King told the Observer. “We are not just going to say ‘this is the state of the global climate’, but also what should the global response be from governments and companies …

**********’

As Tom Nelson says, “This isn’t about the climate, is it?”

It is about money, power and control over a nation’s and the world’s economic, financial, social and political systems for the purpose of advancing the political, social and environmental activist agendas of the elitists such as those launching this panel. That is why everything under the Sun is being attached to the climate alarmist narrative including racial and social inequality (Marxism). Climate change is causing nearly everything you can think of.

There is nothing more tempting than a scientific theory or some movement which has the potential to be the basis for a power grab of this proportion. Anyone opposed to the free market and/or fossil fuels will not doubt see the CAGW narrative as a golden opportunity of a lifetime. For scientists, it is the opportunity for career enhancement and improving the health of their bank accounts.

The only ones who will suffer rather than benefit from this are the people who will have to pay the carbon taxes, the higher energy costs and experience an attack on their quality of life and standard of living. The skeptics who see the scientific problems with the CAGW narrative are the heretics and Orwellian thought criminals of the day who must be silenced, discredit or (if necessary) locked up. Nothing must stand in the way of an opportunity of this magnitude. BURN THE SKEPTICS AT THE STAKE!!

And the politicians who are riding the alarmist bandwagon and providing the funding for it all deserve the most criticism from those who know the truth. This could go down in history as one of the great low points of science and of the governments that form policy on science.

Outside it’s 12 dropping to 9 degrees C overnight, with a forecast of same again for tomorrow. I’m thinking of turning my central heating on, but it feels wrong to do so at this time of the year. I wonder what has happened to the “Global heating” that is proclaimed each day on the pages of the Guardian and other propaganda sheets and TV programs, or indeed the “global warming” that David King and others have repeatedly promised since the 1980’s. When will reality gain the attention of nutters like him?

June 21, 2021 5:15 pm

Carbon dioxide is measured regularly at Mauna Loa Hawaii. Most of the planet is within about ± 2% of the reported values. Measurements at several places and times all follow the same trend.

The graph displayed here shows that reduction in humanity’s production of CO2, as occurred during the covid shutdown, had no detectable effect on the global average trend. This demonstrates that, even if CO2 had an effect on climate (it doesn’t), constraint of CO2 by humanity, such as the green-new-deal, will have no significant effect on climate.
