The Working Families Party, a New York-based liberal organization that had backed Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign, will formally support Bernie Sanders on Monday, as the left continues to grapple with a path forward in the face of Sanders’s sudden struggles.

“We are naturally going to endorse the only progressive left in the race,” said Maurice Mitchell, the party’s national director. “There were two people running on big, structural change in our economy, and now there’s one. We think that’s the winning strategy to get the nomination and defeat Donald Trump.”
