Moseley Braun, who was also the first female senator to be elected from Illinois, will cast the Illinois votes during the Tuesday roll call in a pre-recorded segment at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, a source told the Chicago Sun-Times

The building is high on symbolism. Former President Barack Obama announced his presidential bid in front of the Old State Capitol and returned to announce that he picked Joe Biden to be his vice president pick.

It’s also where Abraham Lincoln delivered his historic House Divided speech on June 16, 1858, after he accepted the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.
