Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli packed their bags for a trip to Mexico, but it wasn’t all fun in the sun.
The couple — who remain on probation after serving prison time for their role in the Varsity Blues college admission scandal — were recently granted permission by a Los Angeles court to travel to Cabo San Lucas from November 5-12 to attend a friend’s wedding.
But a source says the real reason they went was “they’re dealing with a lot of issues right now and need some space to try and fix them.”
While Loughlin, 57, is starting to make a career comeback — the When Calls the Heart actress will appear in a series spinoff, When Hope Calls, in December — Giannulli, 58, “still seems very lost,” admits the source.
“He’s been withdrawn, hasn’t wanted to socialize at all and can’t seem to move on, which has made it hard for him and Lori to connect,” the source continues.

The duo were “hopeful a vacation away from the prying eyes in L.A. will help them set things right,” the insider concludes.
After being released from the slammer, OK! reported the Full House alum is desperate to “put the past behind her.”
"She has served her time in jail and completed her probation, community service and paid all of her court fines," an insider dished, adding she also "privately arranged to put two students through four years of college." The actress is said to have paid their tuition and expenses, totaling more than half a million.
The Summerland alum "continues to work with Project Angel Food" after completing 100 hours of community service and hopes she “will be allowed to move on” and not constantly judged by the public.
Loughlin and her husband were accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters, Olivia Jade, and Isabella, into the University of Southern California. Loughlin was sentenced to two months behind bars while Giannulli was served a five-month sentence.
