Rachel and Austin’s love story is one for the books, or should we say poetry books. The duo first met at a downtown bar in Chicago, and after their meet cute, Rachel says she had a vivd dream where she wrote a poem about Austin. When she woke up the next morning, she quickly jotted down what she remembered from the dream. According to wedding designer Stevie Rozean, “their elopement is a reflection of that first encounter, their lives up until their elopement day and, of course, that poem.”

Though they currently live in Nashville, the pair eloped in Idaho Springs, Colorado at a cabin Airbnb tucked away in the mountains. “They both love experiencing new cities and wanted their day to be shared between just the two of them,” says Stevie. Adding that Colorado seemed to be the perfect place to escape.

The couple exchanged vows just the two of them and shared the same cocktail they had on their very first date to seal the deal. Heather Jackson Photography documented the special day. As for the elopement’s unique details, the couple pulled aspects from Rachel’s poem and used them throughout their design and concept. Colors mentioned in a few verses, yellow chartreuse and blue, were seen in the stationery and florals. The full poem was even hand-written onto the napkins of their table design (which you have to see below!).

Along with the sentimental love-inspired poem, Rachel and Austin’s elopement included a surprise itinerary orchestrated by their planner, Stevie. “As the planner, we took hints from all their favorite things to do and crafted an adventure around downtown Denver the morning of their elopement. They didn’t know what they would be doing till the morning of their elopement when we handed them a list,” says Stevie. The itinerary included coffee and breakfast at a nearby coffee shop, a tour of the Denver Botanic Gardens, getting matching tattoos at a local tattoo parlor and a visiting a popular vintage store called Goldmine Vintage. Stevie even arranged a private car to take the newlyweds to a surprise dinner at Wildflower in Denver following the ceremony. “We had worked with the restaurant staff beforehand to make the dining experience intimate and engaging. Rachel and Austin told us it was one of the best dining experiences they’d ever had,” says Stevie. Check out the rest of their elopement for more details and inspo!

Rachel and Austin both share a love for music, concerts and fashion. So, a punk-band-inspired orange was incorporated into the design along with black accents. As for their attire, Rachel donned vintage items from the popular designer Alexander McQueen, which Stevie says “reflected her career in the fashion industry.
