A $97/night van parked in Manhattan is officially off Airbnb

Sorry to all budget-conscious visitors to NYC, but the red Ford Econoline van parked on the street in East Village is no longer available for short-term stays, according to a report from Curbed.

Despite laws prohibiting converted vans from parking for more than 24 hours, seven vans have hosted guests on the side of the road. This week, the city impounded all the vehicles in "Operation Room Service."

Several months ago, Youtuber Uptin vlogged his stay on a street in the East Village. He noted that the listing had very few reviews and that the host recommended using the bathrooms of local restaurants. He called it a "cozy experience" that was "kind of like camping," but said that he would "never do it again." He then left the keys in a lockbox to check out.
