Weren’t we told wildfires were caused by heatwaves?

Give me tinder and a spark and I can light a fire anywhere on land on the planet. Absent either and I can light one nowhere.

    It really is that simple!

“Weren’t we told wildfires were caused by heatwaves?”
No, Paul. That was the case when the Planet was Perfect before Eve seduced Adam with a fine English Russet. Adam and Eve begat climate change and all the evil that came with that – including wildfires in winter cold snaps and snow in the Sahara Desert.
    Here endeth the lesson.
Did I get that right Sir David?

Its all down to oxygen, we should reduce it to zero to prevent wildfires….anyone see a problem with that? Demonising carbon dioxide as a pollutant is just as stupid, after all it is the elixir of life for planet Earth, all our food comes from photosynthesis in plants.
    6CO2 + 6H2O + sunlight = C6H12O6 + 6O2 (sugar + oxygen)
The sugar gets converted to starch/cellulose C6H10O5 (lose a water molecule), starch we eat, (we also eat creatures that eat the starch) cellulose is woody. stalks, roots we cannot digest that, but termites and ruminants (cows, sheep) can.

What percentage of such fires is caused by arsonists or carelessness?

Dartmoor is near us and its far too cold to be out and about doing Arson.

The humidity is just abut the lowest I have recorded in 20 years as the air is exceptionally dry at present but later today the winds will shift to the west, temperatures will rise and the humidity will increase.

The local authority is set to ban ‘swaling’ (to ensure co2 in the peat is not released) whereby moorland is deliberately set on fire to burn off the gorse and help the heather regenerate. This keeps wildfire outbreaks low, but if vegetation is allowed to grow high, then we will get more wildfires. You heard it here first

Doesn’t it just allow alarmists to claim that GW causes more extremes?

The BBC hasn’t yet tried to link the extreme cold weather and the winter wildfires to “climate change”, but I am sure Harrabin, Rowlatt, Shukman and MacGrath are busy conferring with Greenpeace to find the link.

Slightly off topic but on the Guardian website today there is a lifestyle article about nostalgia for the 1970s. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/feb/12/born-in-90s-nostalgic-70s-culture-politics-past-future
I posted a perfectly innocent comment regarding views at the time of an impending ice age and referred to the Guardian’s 29th January 1974 article by Anthony Tucker (Science Correspondent) entitled ” Space Satellites Show New Ice Age Coming Fast”
Not only was the post deleted almost instantaneously but my screen name came up “posting comments has been deleted from this account”
    Censorship or what!

We all know what’s coming next … ‘These record low temps all over the world are due to the covid lockdown and reductions in travel and emissions, proof that CO2 is heating the planet, we must retain some of the covid restrictions’

This BBC quote is a keeper: “Low temperatures have created tinder-dry conditions on moorland and hills in the areas”. Surely must be some mistake!

We’ll need the wildfires to keep us warm in the power cuts as we cant have wood-stoves !

There have also been a couple of wildfires in Cornwall – arson, not climate change.
