Most of the warming, rise of the oceans, all the stuff you hear so much panic about is measured in millimeters. If you don’t have a ruler that includes millimeters look it up. And as to warming:
The world’s 76 best Tide gauges show a mean 0.34 mm per year rise. “negligible acceleration”. There is no sign of climate models predicting sharply warming acceleration or sea level rise.

Thermal Enhancement on Planetary Bodies and the Relevance of the Molar Mass Version of the Ideal Gas Law to the Null Hypothesis of Climate Change – by Robert Holmes (2018)
From the abstract:
In short; there is unlikely to be any significant net warming from the greenhouse effect on any planetary body in the parts of atmospheres which are >10kPa. Instead, it is proposed that the residual temperature difference between the effective temperature and the measured near-surface temperature, is a thermal enhancement caused by gravitationally-induced adiabatic auto-compression, powered by convection. A new null hypothesis of global warming or climate change is therefore proposed and argued for; one which does not include any anomalous or net warming from greenhouse gases in the tropospheric atmospheres of any planetary body.

Similar to the Nikolov-Zeller papers. Some will have seen this before, but let’s keep it in mind anyway.
From further down that piece: “There’s an enormous amount that we just don’t know. And what we don’t know doesn’t seem to be a cause for alarm.” Frankly, that is of no consolation. It is what the ostrich said when it buried its head. What you don’t know may be ready to bite you; that is why we do research.
This piece from the paper is of note “This measured thermodynamic situation, coupled with other empirical science presented herein, mean that it is very likely that no one gas has an anomalous effect on atmospheric temperatures that is significantly more than any other gas.” It raise the question: ‘so what is the cause of glacial conditions, and particularly the abrupt interglacials? The latter are certainly not of orbital result.

I believe Nikolov & Zeller have something to say about that in a future paper.

perhaps they are. Consider the case of planetary conjunctions and the case of sub oceanic volcanism. I propose that under the right influences the tectonic plates could be influenced to move a bit and set off a very large volcanic response. This would happen “quickly” in geologic terms.
There must be additional input I suspect otherwise the heat blast would occur more often. I don’t have the background to point to a 100,000 year event or one that is more often but conjoins with the solar system conjunctions.
stpaulchuck,- “perhaps they are”. I more than agree. But originally in the above I meant the kind of very slow orbital forcing as per the Milankovitch theory.
However, and based on three particular aspects, ‘orbital’ dynamics look an interesting lead. a) a link to the Eddy cycle evident for the last 8kyrs; b and c ) particular solar system conjunctions that can impose both a gravitational distortion of an oblate earth ( where Ix > Iy > Iz ), concurrent with a then existing short duration torque of substantial magnitude.
Science does not accept substantial abrupt obliquity changes that would drive the earth slowly towards a glacial, or opposite into a fast melt, but not for lack of such evidence. Dates are available; plus the conjunctions – Kepler trigons -, and from a gravitational pov plus the moon’s position for some hours, but exactly what occurred is still elusive.

I hated the AGW and now CAGW nonsense, but now I’ve come to love it. It is driving real scientists to deeply study such effects as conjunctions, cosmic ray bursts, small (relatively) meteor strikes, and a host of other possible effects on our climate. For that I am grateful to the hucksters and snake oil salesmen of the Church of Global Warming.
So many marvelous new papers getting published. It’s wonderful. It’s also why I orbit by this site on a regular basis.
