Two-minute penalty for ruffing.

That was excellent! 👍

he's a good boy also so cute

I love his very cautious slowing down. He realizes he's on ice and as the ends of his runs he puts on the brakes lol

Pup has learned from experience.

u/plmbguy avatar

He has learned from crashing into the boards

Love how he quickly figures out how to use his hind legs as brakes. Smart pupper.

Everyone can just go home now. Hockey game not even needed after this entertainment.

Acceptable except for the playoffs

His name is Captain and he was the Washington Capitals team dog. Such a good boy!

"The Capitals adopted Captain through America’s VetDogs, a New York-based non-profit that provides service dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities."

Edited

he IS ALIVE, but is no longer the Washington Capitals team dog (edited)

Here's his page.

The article I linked references his last game as team dog which was in February.

"Captain, the Capitals’ adorable adopted puppy, attended his final game as team dog on Saturday."

"Now that Captain has finished basic training and socialization, he is returning back to Smithtown, New York, to begin his formal service dog training. The Capitals adopted Captain through America’s VetDogs, a New York-based non-profit that provides service dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities."

Fair enough. I just didn't want ppl thinking the dog had passed.

Thanks for that clarification, that “was” made me nervous

Fyi, this was in 2017 before the Capitals got the team dog Captain. Thus it is NOT Captain. It was a random security/bomb sniffing type dog. You can see the officer throwing the puck. Still a great video

*capitals season ticket holder here

Haha, good to know. This good boy deserves their own page!

The sequel to air bud. Ice bud.

I'm still surprised they did football, soccer, baseball, volleyball but never hockey. Guess he could never compete with that got damn primate.

Also, don't watch the sequels.

u/skippythemoonrock avatar

Audiences didn't test well to seeing Tom Wilson beat up a Golden retriever

But we could have had a very dramatic scene before the end where we don’t know if Ice Bud can play after a dirty Wilson hit in the game before the pudding cups final. Wilson has a hearing with some villain and gets a fine that no NHL player cares about. Tied late in the 3rd, ice bud finally comes down the tunnel for his first shift and promptly woofs one top ched and gets a nice little cheese snack as everyone celebrates.

Looks like a cartoon character, but this pupper is actually really graceful on the ice especially when doing a flurry of backwards tippy taps to stop.

u/SleightOfHand87 avatar

Yea, you can tell that he's definitely aware of the slipperiness of ice. He'd be running a lot faster if he was on grass too, he never goes top speed

Golden are the bestest bois

I want to be as happy as that doggo

Captain is such a good boi

Pretty sure that’s icing

u/skippythemoonrock avatar

More blatant game management by the officials. This has to stop.

This is just adorable to watch

You're legally required to throw it at least twice in most places

skip the hockey & just do this for an hour.

I mean, I’m impressed he never really slipped!

u/Scorppio500 avatar

Goldens are so pure.

No protection on his paws?

Mild air temp, not a very long while, shouldnt be an issue. Can also use paw-salve before/after if you wanna be extra careful.

I could watch this all day

I would pay to go watch this rather than hockey

Canadian puppy!!

u/iamthetimekiller avatar

What a good boy!!!

This grass is doing me a slippy!

this gets reposted a lot but I love it

He’s a retriever. It’s what they do.

u/Escipionsk1 avatar

Well the first step for the new dog hockey league, it must be interesting ...

dog is doing to some liners eh

u/BangzLaRue avatar

Goldens are the best!

u/MM487 avatar

Dogs are always smart and move to the side when playing fetch so their heads don't crash into the wall, just their bodies.

Mom said it was my turn to repost this.

u/bool258_ avatar

awwww the ice doggo

u/Toastysandwich312 avatar

All fun and games 'til he shits on the ice.

Captain!

“I don’t know how you do this friend! I struggle with four legs!”

This lil pupper has the time of his life in that moment

Hear me out... there’s a puppy bowl for the super bowl, no? I think we can manage to put together a pooch playoff for the cup!

I will play fetch with him all day

This is so much better entertainment.

That seems so dangerous. The hokey 'ball' is way to small and with all of that sliding the dog could choke himself on it. I wouldn't do it myself. :/

Frozen retriever

Lots of fun unless it's a bomb sniffing dog

Anyone know what ice is like for a dog's feet. For us it's obviously cold and really abrasive. How does affect a dog's feet, just curious

Man WTF did we do XD

Now whenever I see dog videos I'm reminded of the fact that generations ago they were feared wold wolves. Just because one of them groups decided to be friendly to us this is what happens

How they really run great on ice. Most be the four legs better stability.

u/Tundra_Latex avatar

AHH

Are its feet not cold?

u/Dumble_Dorito avatar

R/mademesmile

cool dog.

It’s a golden retillo.
