Govt should have sought help of Manmohan: Cong
NEW DELHI: Congress targeted Modi government over the failing economy again on Monday and said it would have risen above petty politics to seek the help of economic experts like former PM Dr Manmohan Singh if the government really meant to clean up the financial mess it led the country into.
To buttress its argument that economy was in much better health under Manmohan Singh-led UPA in comparison to the Modi-led NDA government, Congress also released a comparative chart to show GDP growth in UPA at 8.02% in comparison to NDA's 5%, unemployment at 2.2% under UPA in comparison 7.9% under Modi and export growth of 69% under the UPA, which has now plummeted to (-)9.71%.

The attack by the principal opposition followed statements critical of the government by former PM Manmohan Singh and senior party functionaries including former president Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
"If the BJP govt. had any intention of fixing the mess they have created they would put aside petty politics & seek the help of experts such as former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh - who has proved his mettle in economic affairs plenty of times," Congress said on Twitter. On Sunday, Singh had referred to the state of the Indian economy as "deeply worrying" and had urged the government to put aside "vendetta politics".
