Helsinki is the capital and most populous city of Finland, with a population of slightly more than 650,000. Located on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland, it is the country’s center of politics, education, finance, culture and research. At the beginning of the 21st century, Helsinki decided to allow the building of skyscrapers, and several residential towers under construction are slated to be the first buildings in the metro area taller than 330 feet (100 m).
