Investor meet to begin in Dharamshala from today, PM Modi to address gathering
DHARAMSHALA: The flagship program of the BJP government, the global investor meet will begin today at police ground of this hill town. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the investors here. After this, various sessions will take place to brief the investors about the business opportunities in the state.
“Prime Minister will arrive at this hill town around 11.00 am and will be leaving from here around 1.00 after addressing the investors conference” said a senior official of police department.

The hill town has been divided into 7 zones and 18 sectors, with 2,400 cops being deployed. The special protection group (SPG) has already sealed the venue and a helicopter of the Air Force has done trial.
Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, who is known as the biggest brand ambassador of Dharamshala, is unlikely to arrive at the event. Government has appointed Bollywood actress Yami Gautam as the ambassador for this investor meet.
Former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal is also not coming, said sources. However, his son, minister of state for finance and corporate affairs, Anurag Thakur, has confirmed his participation.
Governor of Himachal Pradesh Bandaru Dattatrya and former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar are also attending this investor meet on Thursday.
23 participants from Netherlands, 66 from UAE, 48 from PIOCCI, 11 from Russia, 28 from Vietnam, 2 from Germany and 14 from Malaysia are participating in this meet, said a government official.
Apart from this, ambassadors of 11 countries are also coming here.
Government has claimed that it has already signed 583 MoUs with various investors for the investment of Rs 82,344 crore. Maximum MOUs have been signed in the industrial sector, 207 MOUs for Rs 13,682 crore, followed by tourism sector wherein 192 MOUs have been signed for Rs 14,955 crore and 15 MOUs in power sector have been signed for Rs 27,812 crore. In housing, there are 32 MOUs for Rs 12277 crores.
