Police have tonight launched a murder investigation after a boy was stabbed to death in south Manchester.
At around 7.30pm this evening (Sunday 26 July 2020) police were called to a report of a disturbance on Henbury Street, Manchester.
Emergency services attended.
A boy aged 17 was sadly pronounced dead at the scene

Superintendent Leon Jacobs of GMP’s City of Manchester Division said: “This is a dreadful incident and we are working hard to establish how this boy came to lose his life.
“Our specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family and our thoughts are with them as they struggle to come to terms with their loss.

Supt Jacons added: "This is a fast-paced enquiry and it is vital we secure any information that the public possess in relation to this.
“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see the altercation occur within the Henbury Street area or see what led to it? If you can assist or have dashcam or CCTV footage, then please contact police immediately.”

Police appeal over 'dreadful incident'

“Our specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family and our thoughts are with them as they struggle to come to terms with their loss.
“We also wish those in hospital a speedy recovery.
“While our investigations are in their infancy, we have already made one arrest.
Three others were also stabbed but they survived
"Enquires have established that three other males were also stabbed during the altercation," said the statement
"They have been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening."
A boy aged 17 was arrested at the scene. He remains in custody for questioning.

We've just heard from GMP that officers have launched a murder enquiry after a boy died after being stabbed during an altercation between two groups of people.

Reports of three casualties, two of them serious
One has person has told us that there are three casualties, two of them serious.
They say that, following the first stabbing incident, there was a short chase and then a second.

Police focus on an alleyway
Investigators appear to be concentrating on two areas within the police cordon, one of them an alleway off Lloyd Street South
We're hearing armed police are also at the scene
An eye-witness has told us they have seen armed police at the scene of the incident, which is near the junction of Claremont Road and Lloyd Street South
The police helicopter has been scrambled
The police cordon in place covers several streets.
Sources from the scene have told us the police helicopter was overhead for about 45 minutes earlier this evening
Possibly two casualties
What we're hearing is that there may be two casualties - but that is at this point unconfirmed.
