In an interview with hln.be, Belgium national team manager Roberto Martinez has shared his views on Romelu Lukaku becoming the all-time record scorer for the national team.

“He does not see that fiftieth goal of his as the main goal. The goal is to play well and qualify as the best team for the European Championship,” he said.

In another interview with the same source Martinez also confirmed that Lukaku would not be travelling with the squad for the match against Kazakhstan, as the player himself has already confirmed earlier today.

“Lukaku will not be on the more than six-hour flight to Kazakhstan. He will return to Inter to give his quadriceps a rest. Everyone is satisfied, because in Milan they would rather not see their record purchase playing too much.

“Tielemans has also left the national team as he will soon be a father again. Mignolet, who announced the birth of first son Lex on Wednesday, is also not travelling and Dendoncker is still too sick to fly.”
