The Lady Doth Protest Too Much, We Think

Reposted from Government Accountability & Oversight

New York Attorney General Letitia James’s Office led the development of what the Wall Street Journal editorial board called “Biden’s ‘BackDoor’ Climate Plan,” a clever if likely unlawful way to sneak in the Green New Deal under the auspices of controlling ozone — ditching failed climate messaging on “Polar ice caps and the polar bears [which] have become the climate change ‘mascots,’” because, “Unfortunately, climate change in the abstract is an increasingly – and consistently – unpersuasive argument to make.”

The plan is laid out in months of emails between James’s Office and other OAGs with former EPA career attorneys and officials, and even the current Biden EPA climate chief. It is what a James-led lawsuit filed by those same AGs the day before the inauguration set in motion, as detailed in an amicus brief here.

It’s what they are doing. Understandably, AG James doesn’t like having that pointed out, according to her letter to the WSJ editors that ran last Friday.

Regardless, the albatross of climate doomsaying and Green New Deal moon battery has yielded, for practical purposes, to a new narrative “about our neighbor with respiratory illness,” a rhetorical sleight of hand “highlighting the children’s health dimension to all of our major initiatives,” to capture those “many Americans who otherwise would oppose many of our regulatory actions.”

This is the plan, as laid out on The Most Cynical EPA Memo, Evah™, re-released by GAO on the document’s anniversary last month. EPA and its allies are doing what they said for years, among themselves, they needed to do. And which a paper trail shows that James’s Office prepared for months to do. Exposure of which has only prompted AG James to insist that you shouldn’t believe your lying eyes but instead, remember your neighbor with respiratory illness. Which, the paper trail shows, is not what this clever move is about.

AG James’s LTE simply protests — and proves — too much.

If the GND and similar policies in other countries had any merit whatsoever there would be no need to resort to these backdoor tactics to get them implemented. Crooks the lot of them.

I’m beginning to think that AOC’s high speed train to Hawaii doesn’t make sense in light of Biden’s 21,000 MPH commercial planes.

You are using words in their traditional, racist meaning. The “infrastructure” now means whatever Democrats want it to mean. The “merit” means simply that taxpayer’s money is directed into the right pockets.

No, you in the USA are behind the times, here in canada we no longer use the term infrastructure and have moved on to “investments”.
No matter what it is.

Implementing a carbon tax and hiring an army of civil servants to count all the money is an investment.
Welfare for targeted groups of voters is an investment.

The corruption of language continues apace.

If they didn’t corrupt language, there would be no words to make their agenda seem reasonable. What we are experiencing is the ethical deterioration of the political left where the agenda is all that matters and the truth only gets in the way.

What makes you think the left’s present ethical standard is anything new?

See Walter Duranty for the ethics then and for its present incarnation see The New Durantyism. It’s been lies all the way down.

Yes, hypocritical ethics have always been a feature of both political parties, but since Obama, the left has taken this to a whole new level and is getting away with it because the ethical deterioration of the left has metastasized and now consumes the MSM.

The institutional bias has become so pervasive, the left seems to think it can get away with anything considering how obvious the hypocrisy has become. We can only hope for a positive benefit of cancelling Trump which is that TDS will wane enabling Democrat voters to stop allowing fake emotional arguments to override logic and reason which is the primary symptom of TDS.

As we have seen before the EPA has been politicized and weaponized. This change appears to me to have started with President Carter, although the National Environmental Policy Act actually started with President Nixon. Now it looks like the Greenies (the earth is greening up nicely due to increasing CO2, maybe we need another name, like Socialists?) are utilizing any issue they can torture into a story to advance their agenda. This is one reason the President Biden Administration proposes new budget items in the trillions of dollars, it is easy to hide a few billion dollars here and there.

Call them what you will Redge. Democrat, liberal, leftist, socialist, whatever. They are all in a mad rush to get to the bottom, totalitarianism. Their true colors have finally been exposed. These totalitarians don’t give a tinker’s dam about the poor or minorities as evidenced by our burning cities, porous borders, our over lenient courts, or the child miners of Africa, let alone the plight of the Uighurs. They don’t seem to understand that they are playing right into the hands of our modern day robber barons, the high-tech billionaires.

William Ruckelshaus was the first EPA administrator, and was the guy who brought politics into the EPA with his ban on DDT.

With that decision alone he is responsible for the politically motivated premature deaths of millions

Ironically EPA is about to take steps that may penalize that child with asthma:

… But “you shouldn’t believe your lying eyes but instead, remember your neighbor with respiratory illness.” If your neighbour has hayfever, is she going to mandate cutting down all the trees, and concreting over all the remaining grass in New York?
Indoor air pollution is almost always many times worse than outdoors. Open a window for a bit of ventilation once in a while.

You are behind the times, commieBob.
Like the seasonal Flu, seasonal allergies have been cured. As you may know by now, everybody who might have gotten the the Flu this past cold and flu season got COVID instead. Annual Flu cases dropped from 38,000,000 the previous season all the way down to ~1,500 or so this past year.

So what does this have to do with seasonal allergies?
Last June, the CDC released an expanded list of symptoms which (highly suspicious) included all the symptoms we always traditionally associated with pollen allergies.
We note for the record that this updated symptom list was released on June 6, just in time for the coming summertime allergy season.
So no more allergies, instead we will see COVID and Oh-My-Gawd-COVID! and even OMG-Fifth-Wave-COVID-Lockdown. But we will not see any allergies.

But when you answer affirmative to the list of symptoms and they say Covid! and you say but, but had these same symptoms every allergy season for the last 40 years, they will probably check off Covid! just like they crank up the PCR tests to over 40.

I always have a drippy nose in the winter, but I since Covid! have responded NO to the symptom list, just for that reason.

For a year no one has died from heart attacks, obesity, car wrecks or suicide. Every death is now from Chinese Disease. I have bilateral, non-primary Sjogren’s Syndrome. As of March 2020 all symptoms and effects of Sjogren’s are Chinese Disease. Very convenient for one certain political movement in the world today.

Typical, lying, Greenie behavior: conflate real pollution, which can sometimes be a problem in urban settings and with certain weather conditions, with the fake “carbon pollution”, and then lie about it. But to their twisted way of thinking, the ends justifies the means

I tried to find the origin of “the end justifies the means”. Someone quipped, “the devil most likely”. Would that make it the world’s oldest profession? (… because it was professed before anything else had been professed.)

“The Greek playwright Sophocles wrote in Electra (c 409 B.C.), ‘The end excuses any evil,’ a thought later rendered by the Roman poet Ovid as ‘The result justifies the deed’ in ‘Heroides’ (c. 10 B.C.).” From Wise Words and Wives’ Tales: The Origins, Meanings and Time-Honored Wisdom of Proverbs and Folk Sayings Olde and New; by Stuart Flexner and Doris Flexner (Avon Books, New York, 1993). https://www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/44/messages/923.html

The end always justifies the means. That is, the effort expended must be related to the benefit expected. When you go camping, you collect firewood closest to where you place your campfire, not miles away. When you invest in a stock, you do so based on what your expectations are of dividends and/or re-sale.

Where it becomes perverted is when one operates under the premise that the end justifies any means, which is usually the behavior of a political zealot acting irrationally.

Can’t there be a way to rein in the Democrat State AGs? The office in every Dem state has been thoroughly corrupted by Bloomberg’s program to provide his paid-for lawyers to be added to their staffs to push an activist agenda on climate.

Is this legal for a private citizen to co-opt these offices for his agenda? Did the voter vote for this stuff? I guess elections have been jiggered for decades and the vote has been a sham for a long time.

Perhaps the Republican AG’s should get some balls and fight back with the truth. As a group, they should sue the administration to vacate all policies related to ‘climate change’ on the grounds that the ‘science’ supporting catastrophic climate change caused by CO2 emissions is corrupt, demonstrably wrong and driven by a multi pronged evil agenda of transforming freedom from government into indentured servitude to government while insuring that the free world can’t do anything about it until it’s too late by applying unjustifiable fear to cancel truths, individuals and organizations that oppose their agenda.

Reply to  co2isnotevil

In most things the role of Republicans is to damn with faint praise the ongoing power accumulation. The Democratic Party make a suggestion to increase State Power (disguised by labels as something else). The Republican yell and scream a bit, then suggest an alternate that is in fact only a few degrees, one direction or another, from what the Democrats proposed. Then they argue back and forth about their two plans for awhile before passing something, usually consisting of hundreds or thousands of pages of almost incomprehensible verbiage to hide most or all of the more radical power grabbing provisions never brought up in public.

HIstory has proven, time after time, that this formula is exceedingly effective in directing attention away from the other roughly 360 degree field of alternates that might be the most reasonable solution to the imagined (or sometimes real) problem. These undisclosed and purposefully ignored paths would leave people mostly free to live the lives they want to live and, especially repugnant to the state, let them retain the economic and financial benefits of their own efforts. Since that is antithetical to the party’s true intent, it must never see the light of day.
