Corriere della Sera have taken a look at what they think was one of the main reasons behind Inter’s losses to Barcelona and Juventus in the past week.
“The defeats arrived for different reasons but both came with a basic similarity: the Inter squad is not yet at the level of these sides that they lost to,” the report begins.
“Stefano Sensi’s injury made Antonio Conte have to change his plans but bringing Matias Vecino off the bench and substitutions were also a problem against Barcelona as the Nerazzurri boss had to bring on Roberto Gagliardini and Matteo Politano whilst Barcelona were able to bring on Arturo Vidal and Ousmane Dembele.”
The report also goes on to downplay Inter’s chances of Conte repeating his first season at Juventus, where he won the Serie A title.
“The AC Milan of that time, led by Max Allegri with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva in the squad, was not of the same structure and scope of today’s Juventus. In addition to this, the Bianconeri did not even play in Europe that year.”
