We’re off to the wilds of Scotland for a week (well, Dalbeattie anyway).
I’ve had reports that the broadband is a bit dickie where we staying, so don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from me!

Happy hols!
Hope you’re dressed appropriately for the global warming Scotland has been receiving.

Is that the same Little Ice Age that Warmists like the BBC claim didn’t exist?
I thought for a minute that you were off to the winds of Scotland bearing in mind your cycling interest. Admire the wind turbines while you are at it.
In case you missed it there was a half page in yesterday’s Times headed “Greta’s message of doom is religion not reality ” with a choice para that I now inflict on you:-
For the sin of deviation from the apocalyptic consensus, The New York Times (woke bible and host to the Greta event in January) unleashed the eminent economist Joseph Stiglitz to lambast Mr Bjorn Lomborg ( author of new Book ” False Alarm: etc) who has since responded with an amusing line-by-line demolition of Mr Stiglitz’s claims.
As Mr. Lomborg quotes several sentences from Mr. Stiglitz’s review in his answer, the New York Times should sue him for a copyright infringement, just as the Scientific American did years ago.
Have a well earned rest Paul.
Dalbeattie is the land of the Black-Douglases, so beware of anyone called Douglas!
Enjoy the break, but take a pair of blinkers so that you can avoid looking at mile after mile of wind turbines.
The Solway Firth is littered with them.
Watch out for those rogue and hungry Polar Bears….spotted last April 1st in the northern approaches?
Hope you don’t have to self-isolate on your return – keep abreast of the news, you never know what she of the Minnie Mouse shoes is going to do.
Enjoy!
Enjoy the midges.
And avoid the annoying midget.
July 2020 mean CET 15.7C, about 1/3 degree C less than ‘normal’ (1961-1990).
Ranking: Joint 161/165 coldest (362 yrs), surrounded by years mainly in the mid 1700’s!
Relative to ‘normal’ this was the coldest month so far in 2020 by a country mile.
What does that matter when Heathrow on 31 July was hot. Incontrovertibly proving AGW.
You’re right, with a more prolonged hot spell expected later next week, the BBC has the case all sewn up!
Hope the Saltire-waving vigilantes let you over the border……….
As long as you pronounce it d’lBEATTIE not DALbeattie you should be OK.
(As long as you know how to pronounce Kirkcudbright.)
For the latter you have to chew the cud and turn it into a expression of joy for some French cheese.
Beware Sturgeons and Salmonds in the waters – stick to single malts and have a restful week.
Enjoy your week in the Stewartry. Give my regards to Dumfries on your way through. I went to school there!
Head a bit further West to the Rhins and you’ll find a warm welcome by this disciple of your blog! Unlike the weather of course, but climate change hasn’t hit our end of Galloway since at least the 1330s! P.S. bring your brolly.
Have a very good holiday, enjoy youselves, hope the weather is good.
All the best.
Enjoy your time in this wonderful and scenic part of Scotland. If you’re touring the Glenkens and can spare the time to have a refreshment at my place in Crossmichael please do email me for my number. You’d be most welcome.
A hundred thousand welcomes Paul (Ceud mìle fàilte).
Hope you have a wonderful and peaceful, well-deserved, break.
Dalbeattie is hardly the ‘wilds’, you’re not even north of the Highland Boundary Fault! That aside, it’s a beautiful part of the country I don’t know well enough. Decent bass fishing on the Mull of Galloway in the late summer, if you’re into that sort of thing
Not even north of the land border with England, believe it or not.
I
Enjoy, but it’s not really the true Scotland – its the lowlands.
Do try and visit Wales one of these days as soon it will be too late – at least according to this drivel in the reliably supine Western Mail..

Aha, are you the lucky chap who has just bought this?

Ssshhhh!
Only an estate agent could describe a house as “versatile”. And who would want to buy that? Look how close to the water. It’ll be gone by 2050!
Watch out for Sturgeons…
