Kano Pillars relocate to Kaduna, leave for Ghana Thursday

Kano Pillars are expected to arrive in Kaduna today to begin the last phase of their preparation for their CAF Champions League qualifying round reverse match against Ashanti Kotoko of Ghana.

While in Kaduna, the team will train behind closed doors, away from all distractions.
A source in the team’s camp disclosed that the team will leave after this morning’s training session, adding that the state government has put everything in place to ensure the players concentrate fully on the task ahead.  Virtual Sport

Kano Pillars beat Ashanti Kotoko 3-2 in the first leg of the tie in Kano and needs to avoid defeat to qualify for the second round of the competition.

According to the source, “the team will leave Kaduna by 10.00 a.m. on Thursday for Abuja and fly direct to Accra from the Abuja Airport.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko defender, Habib Mohammed has sent warned Kano Pillars that they would ensure to keep a clean sheet against the Nigerian side in the reversed fixture of their Champions League match, reports footballive.ng.

Habib, who partnered Ayiku Tetteh in the central defence in the Kano said Pillars will face a different defensive apparatus

“We have watched the clip over and over and we have assessed our performance after the game. It was just some little misunderstanding between us on the pitch but we are correcting them before our next assignment, which is on Sunday.

“As defenders, we are working to avoid conceding goals. We want to keep a clean sheet to compliment the effort of the strikers when they score and I know victory will be ours.

“My target this season is to lift the Champions League. We are praying for that to happen,” he prayed.
